In all seriousness, NIL has done, and will continue to do,

Oct 2, 2022, 12:54 PM

a very great favor for the NFL. It is going to weed out the young cats who are only motivated by short term money. Now, NFL teams won't have to waste draft picks that would formerly have been a bust. The bust has already come in college, when the wallet gets fat, and the motivation dies.

What these kids sadly do not realize, is that a million dollars is not going to come CLOSE to lasting them a lifetime. In fact, once the govmint gets done with their share, and any kind of extravagent lifestyle or spending, what they are left with is GONE in about three or four years. There's gonna be some sad "former NIL" stories over the next couple of years or so.

Texas A&M 2022 may serve as a benchmark case, when it's all said and done. Story is still to be completely written, I realize, but the first chapter is bad already.

You are exactly right. You have to have the desire to play the game for what it is and not just for the money.

If you had a kid being offered a million to play college football with a scholarship vs just a scholarship, all else being equal, wouldn't you tell him to go to the school that offered the million?

A million at 18 is life changing money vs the chance of making the NFL 3 or 4 years later.

and most of the kids being offered that kind of money are NFL prospects anyway and were getting paid under the table anyway by SEC teams up until now.

This isn’t a discussion on if NIL should exist, OP is suggesting the fallout may not all be positive

NIL will take care of itself because companies expect a return on their investment. There will not be many millionaire college players.
