and a cautionary tale regarding the kind of hero worship and blind loyalty in over abundance at EVERY school!! The exact thing I get blasted for pointing out often on TNET.
The PSU scandal happened because people are blindly loyal and put people, loyalty, friends, ahead of the university. As I've written many times before, as a CU alum, my loyalty is to Clemson!! Not people at Clemson. I care about the success and integrity of Clemson, not people.
The beginning of the story is esp telling. The phone call from the professor. Much like the janitors that were scared to speak out. I'm always very uncomfortable with blind loyalty and hero worship. This scandal is a prime example of why it is so dangerous. As the saying goes, absolute power corrupts absolutely.

never read it. He's certainly good with words. I think it just added to the emotional reaction that led to the NCAA violating its own due process to punish PSU. They deserve at least most of what they got, but even Sandusky himself got due process.
With regards to firing Ford, I was too young and not yet a Clemson fan to have a first hand account. However, if he was bigger than the university, it was probably the right move. It took 20 years to recover, but we're back in the game now so let's enjoy it. I really have to wonder the cover ups that happen at most SEC schools where a winning football team is EVERYTHING.

This is a pretty eye opening article. I'm sure this professor was one of many who knew the real Paterno. Makes you wonder how many in and around the University knew about Sandusky.
