Had some neighbors over to eat tonight, the get together kinda grew a bit and we fed a lot of folks. Smoked brisket, fermented cream slaw, lime roasted gold taters, pepper poke cornbread, pickled cukes and ramps. Now friends, I know it was good cuz I ate it. And I advised err’body to go easy on the ramps…no one listened. Over-ramping will produce all sorta smells and the fermented slaw will get your gut going pretty good the next day. Combine that with the draft mexi-lager from the local brewery and I’m just not gonna be responsible for what comes outta you tomorrow.

All I know is there are gonna be a lotta windy neighborhood dads and moms in their professional environments tomorrow. Lulz at all the cute little moms that’ll be bustin’ a$$ like hungover frat boys on Satdee mornin’.

Where did you get the ramps? Were these pickled/preserved earlier in the year?

A ramp is an allium, but imagine if you crossed garlic, spring onion, and leek.

They grow all over the place down here, spring and fall.

I’ve replanted them in years past with a little success, they tend to lose their pungency in a garden…even if you fertilize the chit out of’em. I pickled these back in March.
