If you don't live in America

what are the chances that you know that liking fried chicken is a black stereotype?
Also since when is liking delicious food a negative stereotype?
But in all seriousness, Sergio Garcia's comments don't deserve any attention, he's never won anything in his life and has to say things like this to get headlines.

opinion that people (and i mean everyone) need to toughen up and stop crying over every little thing that they perceive to be racist/sexist/insensitive or what have you, but this was uncalled for and it really does have a history beyond just being a stereotype.
From wikipedia:
"Since the American Civil War, traditional slave foods like fried chicken, watermelon, and chitterlings have suffered a strong association with African American stereotypes and blackface minstrelsy.[10] This was commercialized for the first half of the 20th century by restaurants like Sambo's and Coon Chicken Inn, which selected exaggerated depictions of blacks as mascots, implying quality by their association with the stereotype. Although also being acknowledged positively as "soul food" today, the affinity that African American culture has for fried chicken has been considered a delicate, often pejorative issue. While the perception of fried chicken as an ethnic dish has been fading for several decades, with the ubiquity of fried chicken dishes in the US, it persists as a racial stereotype."

every 18 hours in China until a recent setback due to a bird flu epidemic. China is their largest market and over 40+% of their sales. Regardless, KFC is now a worldwide brand and has no ethnic limitations. That said, Garcia knew he was resurrecting the Zoeller comments just to razz Tiger. Personally, I have reservations about both.

I took a black friend to PAWS for lunch a couple of weeks ago. He had never been. He asked what I recommended. I told him to go with the fried chicken. Was that racist? Should I have suggested the baked ham instead? Would that have been more correct? By the way, he got the fried chicken and really liked it.

What Sergio said was racist because he is in a spat with Tiger right now.
Not sure if Sergio is an actual racist. But his statement was racist. He's only apologizing because Taylor Made is pi$$ed.

Boo hoo!!! Everbody is a racist nowadays. Race this race that. You didn't vote for my president because he's got black in his genes. Quit whining! It's not like he hit him in the head with a shovel. Put him in timeout for the day and move on.
