Is that just one colossal joke, that feels the need to advertise? That site couldn't possibly be an actual resource for farmers looking to date.

that a large part of that is that people aren't putting themselves on an online dating site unless they really want to be in a relationship. So a lot of the relationships that start online are going to quickly lead towards marriage because the only reason you're even meeting the person is for dating, whereas meeting people in real life can happen for any number of reasons and might go in any number of directions. The whole utility of internet dating is that it skips over those romantic difficulties that come along with our limited offline lives and gets straight to whatever it is you want (whether it's hooking up or a serious relationship).

I will say, I was concerned with a couple of the couples I know that met online. Mostly thinking that the guy was so desperate to get married that he was rushing stuff and making a poor choice.
