I really appreciate Thomas Sowell and usually agree withe him, but even though there is a lot of interesting history in this video presentation, there is also a lot of blaming others for what is a different problem than blaming white settler rednecks for present day Black culture.
While there may be (and probably is) a connection with northern UK white American settlers and present day Southern rednecks, there is no rationale for attribution of language ignorance as an excuse for Blacks, Whites, Orientals or any others.
When European white settlers came to the New World, there was a shortage of school teachers and those who were here were likely almost as ignorant as those they were supposedly teaching.
Those who have wanted to learn proper English and other social attributes have done so by an awareness of the differences and a willingness to comport themselves accordingly.
After all these years, teachers are almost as ignorant as the students they are teaching and students are given a "participation" pass rather than a grade based on accomplishment and too many parents are either missing or don't care.
The problem is not one of white redneck slavery influence as the video suggests - but one of a lack of a family and educational structure that encourages education and proper social behavior to conform to a societal norm that allows and fosters acceptance and inclusion.

Mr Cook could have absolutely benefitted by staying at Clemson, FSU done nothing to help him improve his vocabulary that actually needed some improvement....

Coming from a criminole. Education is and has always been way down the list of requirements at FSU. Trophies come first. Too bad Mr Cook only saw one (ACCC) of those trophies his freshman year and never even sniffed one after the 2014 season

Academically, he was probably better suited for Free Shoes University than Clemson.
