Anybody else hate to hear announcers say "free ninety" ?

Brad Owens said that at least 10 times during the game tonight and when I hear that it just reminds me of the Monty years. Monty couldn't teach hitting at all ( as evidenced in Cooterville this year) and relied on HBP and BB to get people on base. I cringe when I hear the term "free ninety" because that is all Monty would preach in EVERY pregame interview. Am I the only one who feels that way?

All I know is the dudes in the box tonight were awful at their job. It seems Clemson can't hire anyone that is worth a dang behind the mic. The Softball and Lacrosse folks seem to have what it takes to call games without overly dramatizing or constantly blathering on about nothing to fill airspace.

... I don't mind the older guy, but the younger sounded like Qualk on helium🤣

I'll take Qualk and Mahoney ANY DAY over Munson and Owens.***

Don't feel bad I had never heard that before Monty and I have watched a lot of baseball over the years, and I guess that is why it is so cringe worthy for me.

It's a weak "out phrase" for subpar announcers to use. Much like "trickeration"

How about "It's a win for the batter." No it's a win for the shortstop. No it's a win for the Umpire. Who knows who the next win is for?

1. Listening to Munson/Owens call a baseball game?
2. Reading the Brownell Cult posts?
