If you want to measure the value of our head coach...

Ask yourself this.
If we happened to fire him, would someone else hire him?
Dabo would get snatched up in a heartbeat.
Just my random thought of the day.

One popular opinion is that since Dabo hasn't made...

any of the major program's "Shortlist," because they haven't approached him.
Knowing that Dabo presents himself as a man of high moral standards and demands the same from his/our players, perhaps some of the folks out there think he wouldn't fit in with them.
It's also likely that were a major program to approach Dabo and he flatly refused to play the 'I've got another job offer so give me more money,' game they wouldn't put him on their 'shortlist,' because of the humiliation of having a lowly ACC coach flatly turn them down. Some of them are so pompous they probably omit anyone who doesn't beg for the job. Think USC, ND, UM, both UT's, Bama etc...
Maybe I'm wrong but somebody will have to refute the logic to make me believe it.

Makes sense to me.with your logic...what's there to refute...?
Just as most of the media jerks don't like to give us due credit alot...these programs are all too arrogant to be toyed with & turned down by a great salesman & bargainer such as Dabo, who's also one of the quickest studies & up&coming top football coaches in the nation.
Can't argue that either, awards & honors speak for themselves...
Go Tigers!

Dabo is absolutely perfect for this job and he would have another job tomorrow. Anyone at Clemson, who calls themselves a fan, is an idiot if they don't think what he is doing here is outstanding. Folks, we have won double digit games in 3 of his first 5 full seasons and 9 games in another. We are also recruiting at an all time high level. Below is Danny Ford's record year by year. Only once (1981 Championship) did he win more than 10 games. Dabo has done it twice.

Yep, the only accurate comparison is by percentage win or percentage loss.
Is it really fair to compare Dabo to Danny?

Biggest difference in last two years versus Danny,s last 2

Danny could get the team up for the big games a little more consistently.
Danny ALWAYS seemed to have at least 2 ### games every year.
Last year Danny would have never lost to FSU or USuC the way we did but probably would have lost to NC State or some one of that ilk.
FWIW

that someone like Dabo can win big in college football. It goes against everything they think they know, and seeing them proved wrong is our pleasure.

When Saban leaves Alabama, I believe Dabo will be on their very short list. I hope he has the same reply for Bama; that Danny had, when they asked him to come home. Thanks, but I am home.

To be fair, the win percentages are very close. Danny at 79% and Dabo at 70% and that looks to only increase. If not for the mid year takeover and the one bad season in 2010, it would be right with Danny's.

Dabo is smart and Dabo knows playing the "long game" is best

Build the staff, win games, pay your staff, recruit like heck. The #1 challenge is to hire the right assistants, especially coordinators. It is not just paying the money (although that helps) but being able to pick the right people with the correct skills and "fit" for the program. It's still early but, so far, Dabo has made all the right moves. He will make a lot of money and win a lot of games if he can continue the Morris/Venables type of successful selections in assistants.

And time will tell, but it looks as if he is starting to build the model of replacing from within that elite programs use. Jeff Scott is learning everyday from Chad Morris. Morris was going to take Scott to TT with him as his OC had he gotten that job.

I don't buy into this attitude that Dabo's capabilities are

meritless because other schools haven't approached him.
Maybe, some have; maybe they haven't. Regardless, I suppose we'd have to ask how many coaches in the history of the game were approached by other schools?
How many schools tried to hire Spurrier away from Florida? Or Bowden from FSU? Or the Bear, for that matter, from Bama? Or even ole Joe Paterno from Penn State?
Sometimes, coaches adopt the identity of a school; others realize that and seek elsewhere. Other times, a young coach is watched for quite a while to see if and how he progresses. Then, of course, there are those who just never quite cut the mustard. The latter are eventually weeded out at the bigger programs. The better remain at programs for long periods or are eventually hired by others.
I have no doubt that some program would hire Dabo, although I can't answer whether or not one of the powers would.
The important point is that he is our coach; he has worked his behind off trying to build our program; he has made mistakes, and he has had triumphs.
And a whole lot of Clemson folks are d@mned well pleased to call him OUR coach. I suspect more will board the bandwagon once he brings a halt to this "peating" business by our fine, feathered fiends in Columbia...and the sooner the better for that wagon.
