Spectrum Deal

1

Sep 6, 2023, 11:18 AM

Due to all the nonsense Spectrum put its customers through of late I called to cancel. I had already purchased Hulu for 69.99/month , so I was prepared to just cut the cord. When I spoke to a rep
they cut my bill in half, will send a new streaming service they offer , gave me their latest high speed modem , and gave me an extra line for mobile w/o charge. Since the sports pkg I had which included all sports channels they will add that free to my subscription once the issue is resolved at which point I will cancel HULU.

Yes, it's inconvenient and the wait time was ridiculous but all in all I'll come out around $100 less.So , to all spectrum customers out there give them a call. They are in a terrible spot right now and are willing to make a deal to keep customers

I received a letter yesterday from Spectrum stating that I will have across the board increases on everything, streaming, internet, even my old land line phone.

I'll see what they offer, if anything, when I call to cancel everything with them.

Show me a service that has TV and has the ability to get to channels with a remote, by punching numbers. As far as I know, it's only cable, DirecTv, Dish etc. None of these other platforms do that. That IUS what I want. I like bouncing from a channel to another quickly, by numbers I push. THat can't be done with all these other services.

I went in a few weeks back all but begging them to offer

some sort of a promotional deal to me to help with my bill, as it was over $300 a month. What did they do? I had my brother in laws bill with me to compare, and instead of CUTTING my bill, they INCREASED it $8 a month! Those blood sucking leeches can die on the vine as far as I'm concerned. Very happy thus far with YouTubeTV since I cut the cord. ONLY disadvantage is I don't have the Bally Braves channels. That is a small price to pay for saving over $120 a month. Bally is bankrupt, and I suspect they will not be the carrier of the Braves beyond this season anyway.

I hate not having the Braves as well. All providers in our area should carry the Braves. Longest stint I have had since I was a kid of not watching a Braves game.

You're still paying them for the internet connection, right?

flag link military_tech thumb_downthumb_up

Since they have the franchise in the area, yes. If they go

Sep 6, 2023, 12:48 PM

under, SOMEBODY will always have an internet connection running.

Yes , I had the bundled package that inc. Internet and modem. The charge monthly was 89.99 ,they cut the price to 49.99 and are mailing the new top end modem. According to them it's plug and play. You just drop the old one off at a UPS store and they ship it free. Keep your receipts

I hope it works out for you. But if and when they sign a new deal prices are going to go up on all packages they offer.

When will you morons understand that the villain here is not Spectrum, but ESPN/Disney? Pretty bad when you don’t have a clue as to who your real enemy is. More examples of our fine dummying down education system.

badge-donor-05yr.jpgmilitary_donation.jpg flag link military_tech thumb_downthumb_up

Actually it's both parties' fault...

Disney because they are increasing their fees and Spectrum because they wanted all their subscribers to get an ESPN+ for free. Plus Spectrum never had a problem jacking up prices in the past, which is why I got rid of them 5 years ago.

Who cares who the villain is…cable is the past and streaming is the future. Get with the program (pun intended).

Spectrum is definitely painting Disney as the villain, but Disney owns the products we want. Spectrum is just one of many vehicles to deliver the product, and right now they are failing at that.

Here's what gets me about some people. They want conference payouts to increase while at the same time taking aim at the very company that needs more money in order to pay larger conference payouts. Even better that there are some people who appear to defend the very blood sucking leeches who for years have bundled packages together to charge you tons of money for channels you don't even watch.

I'm with ya on eventually getting away from espn/ disney but I got away from spectrum cable a long time ago. But in the meantime we got what we got

If you call to cancel services, ask for Retention.

The agents there have a little more power to grant your wishes

Just remember, there are no good guys in this fight and we are the collateral damage.

Instead of jacking prices back up and pissing people off i expect Spectrum to instead enact layoffs. After all less customers equal less manpower.

Deal or No Deal...

Sep 6, 2023, 3:19 PM

Your deal may depend on your options for internet service.

Spectrum clearly knows where you live and what service options are available to you.
Internet is the defining service, because with internet there are a lot of options for TV.

I called Spectrum and held for 30 minutes and finally gave up. You can't drop TV service on-line or chat and can't get anyone to talk to, so it's not possible to change the service.

I'm not going to pay my bill until they call me back. I'm dropping TV and will change internet provider soon. I tried the chat, so they should have two records that I contacted them.

When I dropped them...

Sep 6, 2023, 3:31 PM

I actually had to go into one of the stores. They lady in there was actually really nice. Maybe it was because I kept internet service and if upgraded it to a higher bandwidth. But she was like "you don't know how many people come in here doing this".

Yep. I pointed out the wait time in the original post. But well worth it. They told me if you hang up you'll just have to start the process over that's why I waited.

I don’t care if they offer it to me for $1 a month…it’s worthless to me if I can’t watch any football games

Sep 6, 2023, 3:23 PM

and probably sooner than later. They have to, for the sake of their business.

Re: Spectrum Deal

Sep 6, 2023, 4:08 PM

I had a wonderful experience with Spectrum...said no one ever. I spent over an hour on the phone, talked to an agent who could not drop my TV service, and held for another twenty minutes until I gave up.

I was also on chat, where the agent told me they could not drop a line of service and go into the local store, which I did.

The agent there told me to call the 800 number - no lie. I laughed at him and said I tried that!

So he did drop my TV service but said he wasn't able to prorate it, and I would be charged the full amount for the month, even without the twenty Disney channels. We need a class action lawsuit or someone in the FCC or Consumer Protection Bureau to do their jobs.

I HATE ESPN and SPECTRUM!!!!

Rant over. Go Tigers!

Class of '87

ESPN/Disney is trying to pay for that SEC contract...

Sep 7, 2023, 11:04 PM

This is Spectrum knowing they can't raise their rates or they will truly die.

flag link military_tech thumb_downthumb_up

This is all on Disney/ESPN...They want Spectrum users to pay

Sep 7, 2023, 10:53 PM

for the SEC's new contract they just signed.

flag link military_tech thumb_downthumb_up

So, Spectrum uses the same business model as Dish & DirecTV?

Sep 8, 2023, 1:42 AM

Keep jacking up your bill, until you call and threaten to cancel...then give you a great deal for about 6 months, then they jack it up again! So glad I don't have to deal with that crap, with YouTube TV!
