less in salary from one year to the other?

SC is in the works of looking at teacher pay scales and why we can't find teachers (because the kids and parents suck on top of making hardly any money) and one thing that are pushing really hard is "A teacher can not make less than they did the previous year"

Is that really a thing in this state? I've never made less from year to year

I would agree, but looking at the behind the scenes formulas etc on what

our state determines as "performance" and I would say no. Everything is designed for the schools etc to not do well or at least make it insanely difficult.

That would be like a commissioned salesman not allowed to look at, test, or know anything about the product he/she is selling.

It's not an exact analogy but it's close.

No merit increase, and a lower bonus than the last 2 years = less money in 2024 than I made in 2023. Also, no house sales proceeds this year. And if I get fired, it will be even less than that.

What sucks more is that we (as a company) made $20 Billion MORE last year than we did in 2022. We had 30% MORE net revenue.

In the bidness world, that's what we call soft layoffs when you eff with people so bad they just quit.

In GA, teachers have made less...

Quite a few times the Guv'nuh has provided teachers with bonuses that might not have been available the next year due to downturn in revenue.

1st Year - $50,000 salary plus $5,000 teachers bonus
2nd Year - $52,000 salary after raise, no bonus.

1st > 2nd
