Whiner or Winner? I would love for her to take down the Mighty Staley again this year. For some reason I see a lot of shade thrown her way but she is a gamer. Looks like Iowa will have to play LSU first which will be tough.

The last two weeks she looked like she was in the toddler room at the church. That first and second round at home and it being the last must’ve really given her a lot of pressure. I think somebody told her to sit it because the last two weeks she has really gotten so much negative publicity. Today she seen back to herself and having a good time. Can you imagine if we get to see something like that in Littlejohn one day ? a team that can pass they know what a back door is. They can shoot really well. I’m hoping this new coach is the answer.

What negative publicity was she getting? I know she's been talked about a ton recently, but I hadn't noticed anything negative. It seems like everyone's been hyping her up all year, but I'm not following her closely so I may have missed something.

As much as I love PJ, he does the same thing every time he gets stripped and goes up with 2 empty arms looking for the foul. I think he would get more fouls called if he didn't do it as much, but as mentioned its part of all sports nowadays.

They all do. Just seems the ones scoring the most points gets called out. Soccer is another even though they have started giving players yellow cards for flopping. It has helped.

… it is somewhat regional, but mostly cultural.
Full disclosure… I’m an American that grew up in Brasil and played soccer at Clemson in the late 70s. 🙂 I don’t flop, and I currently can’t recall players that I played with at Clemson or any of our opponents doing so very often. It has a lot to do with playing honestly and “fair play”.
When you get to the pro level, the stakes are higher and it is called “gamesmanship”.
South Americans, Central Americans, “Latin” European countries like Spain, Portugal, Italy, France flop quite a bit. Northern European players don’t flop much at all, US players, Australian, New Zealand players “generally” don’t flop. Players from Africa, the Caribbean, and Asia usually don’t flop.
The bigger soccer leagues have players from a lot of different countries and the same pattern described above generally holds true.
However, there’s flopping (faking/exaggerating a foul), and there is contact when you think a player is exaggerating and stays down.
Sometimes it’s not faking. Just like if you’ve ever hit your knee hard on a desk, the initial pain is intense, but it dissipates quickly after couple of minutes. The same happens when you take a whack to your shin.
So faking in soccer does happen, but sometimes it may look like it … when it’s not. 😖
