A coach and staff who develops great players from great young men and wins with great consistency???

My son will never play for Clemson. What these players do and the decisions they make are none of my business. I’m just a fan. Why should I care whether they are great young men or not? I don’t know them..
I want to see Clemson do what it takes to win within the rules that are established.
Win at all costs. He’s getting paid at all costs.

Reminds me of a very rich uga fan friend of mine who said, “I don’t care if they can read or write. I just want them to win football games.” It seems that some on here are adopting that attitude. I do not want us to be that kind of program, at all. I do want us to win, but not at the expense of our reputation. I want a Clemson degree to mean something great.

Why choose between those 2 when we have a 3rd option as our current coach ?
A coach and staff who develop great men to great players, wins consistently and can/do win at the highest levels of college football without using the portal

has an "exit interview" with all the players at the end of the season to find out what their plans may be. Whether it's going pro, retiring, transferring or "quitting".
Also, wouldn't a good coaching staff get a "good feel of the room" (players not pleased with playing time, etc.) and know ahead of time of a player's plans to transfer (or quit)?
Surely this info would help in preparing the "next man up" earlier (spring practice) than expected.

You've DISTORTED the actual reality of the situation b/c without this manipulation there is NO conundrum. Unequivocally, yes, logic dictates the portal should be accessed conservatively(3-4 players at positions of need whose talent is worthy of a scholarship, not a 4th string QB) to offset the annual portal losses-
