http://shop.metabolicmedicalcenter.com/profast-protein-shakes-catagory.html

Do the 3 and 1 plan. 3 shakes and one meal (8-9oz lean protein-chicken,fish,turkey,etc.), and 5-6 cups of veggies (no carrots or onions). Space all food/shakes 3 hours apart. I did a shake at around 9am, a BLT Cobb salad full size from Wendys with ONE pack of avacado ranch dressing and scrape off the bleu cheese...at noon, another shake at 3pm, another at 6pm, then a butload of veggies around 8pm.

Oh, and don't forget vitamins at night:
http://shop.metabolicmedicalcenter.com/metabolic-medical-center-vitamin-pack.html

AND DRINK AT LEAST 64OZ OF WATER A DAY. This is important.

That's it. You will lose 2-6lbs a week depending on how overweight you are.

1) Cut out soda, sugar, and as much sodium as possible.

2) Eat foods with lots of macronutrients and little filler. Eat lean protein: turkey, chicken, pork, fish, seafood. Eat only sides like veggies (or, I do unsalted peanuts for lunch).

3) Drink at least a gallon of water a day.

4) Strength train rather than cardio. You'll burn calories more efficiently this way. And, if you do cardio, do interval cardio (for instance, on an elliptical, do two min. slow, one min balls-out -- repeat). If you need a decent workout routine you can do in about an hour, send me a t-mail.

5) Drink a protein shake after you work-out. I looove IsoPure Dutch Chocolate. It's more expensive but much better than the Muscle Milk crap you can pick up at Costco.

Meh. You don't have to go hungry to lose weight.

Jul 16, 2012, 3:44 PM

You just need to take in less calories than you expend, and you can do that by eating the right foods.

flag link military_tech thumb_downthumb_up

I've been doing this for a long time, I agree with you

Jul 16, 2012, 4:08 PM

You can eat a #### load of vegetables and fruits for the same calories as even a small-sized steak or piece of chicken. Calorie balance is the key, losing means eating at some kind of deficit. It's a thermodynamics energy balance problem, it's really not *that* hard.

Energy in = energy out + stored energy

Food calories = calories burned + stored calories

Stored calories = Food calories - calories burned

Your stored calories are fats and some proteins (the body will metabolize and cannibalize your muscle mass if it feels it has to). Your calories burned are your BMR (multiplied by a "normal activity" multiplier) and your exercise.

500 calorie daily deficit will lose you a pound per week (on average). Knowing all that, it's just a matter of deciding how fast you want to lose it.

Jul 16, 2012, 5:39 PM

You can eat a ton of food that's really low in calories. Lean meat is good for that. Veggies too. Plus low-cal protein shakes can fill you up quick. The IsoPure that I have has like 50g of protein per serving. Holy #### that is good stuff.

flag link military_tech thumb_downthumb_up

Serious question.

Jul 16, 2012, 3:45 PM [ in reply to Eat less, move more, emphasize the "eat less" part ]

Were you skinny then got big or were you a fat kid then got motivated later?

I really feel bad for everybody I know that was 150 in high school and now pushing 250. I'm roughly the same size as in high school...I was always a fat kid.

badge-donor-05yr.jpgringofhonor-aero.jpg flag link military_tech thumb_downthumb_up

Jul 16, 2012, 3:48 PM

Husky jeans, ftw.

Was well into the 260's to 270's for most of high school, ballooned during college to my all-time high (not as great as it sounds) in excess of 350 pounds. Lost weight for my wedding, getting hitched at 275 pounds (I must have a hella personality for my fattiness to have found a girl and convinced her to put up with me forever), then slowly crept up to 340-ish again.

Having kids is what started me on a "maybe I shouldn't be Jabba" path. Having the second one in October 2011 is what seriously kicked my #### into losing it.

If you haven't had a physical in a while, let your doc know about your conditioning program. No surprises for your heart!!!

Work up to 3, maybe 2 miles an outing. Vary your speed too, and try to finish with a sprint of some sorts...

If you go to the gym, use a rowing machine an eliptical machine for cardio.

Weight training will help too.

Want to ride, go to a bike shop and purchase a bike that Fits you.

Cut back on sweets, especially late at night.

straight cardio.

My routine is weight training followed by a mile of interval cardio (well, it is supposed to be followed by cardio). But, the majority of the focus is on heavy weight lifting. This is not to say you're not going to lose weight by running, but weight training is more efficient.

flag link military_tech thumb_downthumb_up

I have the opposite issue in that I could use about 10 lbs

Jul 16, 2012, 4:10 PM

but I still have some suggestions that may help, regarding food, along with what others have said.

1. Don't eat out for lunch at work (at least not often). I bring a lunch every day, which saves me a ton of money as well.
2. Eat smaller portions. I bring a smaller lunch and 2 snacks, 1 for 10:00 usually and the other between 3:00 - 4:00.
3. Eat slowly. I developed a really bad habit of inhaling my food at Clemson and have to remind myself to not do that. You'll actually enjoy your food more and won't feel the need to get more of it.
4. I follow the Zone Diet pretty closely before work and for what I bring to work but don't really focus on it at night.
