It kept the right wing justices locked into their original decision.

As a result, my guess is we'll never hear about the findings of the investigation or it will be "unresolved."

I don't agree. It's much more likely that the leak was intended to bring pressure on the conservative/moderate justices to change their decision. The idea that it was designed to lock them into their decision doesn't make logical sense.
