I wondered since 2014 how many NCAA Tournament appearance Clemson has had

compared to the other P5 programs. I researched it and here are the numbers and it's not pretty. Clemson has had 4 appearances which ties for 43 out of 69 P5 schools. That puts us in bottom 38% of all P5 programs. The Brownell sycophants can make all the excuses in the world, and they will, but the numbers don't lie. Anyone who thinks this is acceptable is not a Clemson fan.

We will look somewhat better next week when we make the 2024 field. On your list, we were 40% (4/10); counting this year, it will be 45%.

I believe that if you go back to his start at Clemson, there is one more which was his first year. From your list Pitt, NC State, Miami, and Fla State have done better than Clemson. Why is that? Is it coaching, facilities, money? Clemson should not be down that low.

The real problem is people that do not like Brownell use numbers to support their feelings instead of looking at history. If you went back to the early 70's when the NCAA expanded the tournament field your numbers would show an even worse result. If you went back to when we started basketball, it would be even more dismal. The bottom line is we are not a basketball power and history would tell you that changing coaches would not change that situation. Life is so much better if you celebrate the effort and the wins.

Brad is a good guy and I have always wanted him to succeed. However, my allegiance is to Clemson. I will be critical of ANY coach that I feel is underperforming. I want to see both Clemson basketball programs do better. I would like to note that Dabo, Brad, and Noonan were all brought in around the same time and one of these coaches has not had the success of the other two. I want to know why. If Brad has not been given what he needs then fix it. If Brad has been given the necessary tools to succeed he needs to go.

You say those numbers are since 2014. I assumed at first that you meant bids to the NCAA tournament, but that doesn't make sense as we've only had 2 bids in that time frame ('18 & '21) and there haven't been 13 years in that range (see Mich. State's number). So then I assumed it was games played in the tournament (as our 4 seems to be correct). But then, Duke (and other team's) numbers seem low. I checked Duke and they've had 22 games in the '15-'23 tournaments.
I feel like I must be missing something, what is meant by "NCAA Tournament Appearances since 2014"?

Still, as I pointed out in a previous post, Clemson basketball over the last 50 years is light years ahead of where we were between 1940 and 1975. Our historical overall win % is .509.

Now do how many of those with 4 or less have stuck with the same coach for that duration. How many with 5 or more had less in the preceding 14 years and didn’t stick with the same guy. I can find absolutely no precedent for the Brad Brownell experiment. No coach has been given so long to accomplish so little. I’m not above out of the box thinking. But we are past any precedent for such an investment in a coach. I know he won’t be fired - but he has already proven that he can function near his best without the traditional 5 year contract. He went into this season with 3 years. He has 2 remaining at the end of this month. Barring some incredible post season performance he doesn’t need a raise or extension. Sentiment has turned. Such a move by the AD would be disastrous if the team flops next season. Neff should simply allow him to continue under current terms or test the open market.

Alabama, Michigan, Notre Dame and OSU have more appearances than Clemson? Don’t the Brownell apologists say you can’t be good in football and basketball?
