I vividly remember

Walking out of the Atlanta Dome on August 28th of 2008 feeling very low because my Tigers had just displayed a miserable performance against the best team in college football. I knew that day that we would never be in the same league as the Crimson Tide. Boy was old Foresttiger wrong about that. Thanks Dabo. I still can't explain the feeling I had walking out of Tampa Stadium a few months ago. Euphoric is a good word I guess. Let's do it again. I'm rapidly approaching that time in life when I'll miss Tiger football and I ain't ready to quit.

I've scratched out the perfect 30 for 30.

Start with the hiring of TB and his facility upgrades and hiring of Dabo. Cover the summer of 08 and the high expectations and the Bama game. Skip to the Wake game and Monday October 13. Then CJ staying for his senior season. Recruiting Dabo's dandy dozen. Getting Chad Morris. 2011 ACC Championship and the debacle that led to BV. The Chickfila Bowl against LSU, the Orange Bowl against OSU. Watson. You know the rest. Call it "The Climb."

Vivid memory of encounter with older Bama couple
Jul 9, 2017, 10:30 PM

After the game, our group got separated and my brother took the MARTA in the wrong direction. So, there I was, sitting on the curb outside the MARTA station in 100 degree heat at midnight waiting for my brother (and my ride back to the hotel). Miserable does not do justice to how I felt. Hot, tired, and utterly defeated and demoralized. An older couple walked by and the gentleman took one look at me and said: "Son, it will be OK, the sun will rise in the morning." I looked up like a beaten hound dog and said: "It may rise for you, but it will never rise for me again." It has been a long, difficult journey, but the morning after the national championship game, the sun rose and has been shining ever since. Beating Big Bad Bama, touted as the best college football team ever, one that could go toe-to-toe with some NFL teams, truly is sweet redemption for that beat down in 2008. Thank you Dabo for being a visionary and taking us back to the mountain top.

One minor correction. Bama was not yet "the best team in college football." They were number 24 when they beat us and LSU won the championship that year. They were just beginning their ascension under Saban after finishing 7-6 in 2007.

That's true. Before Saban they had this dude named Bear something who finally was run out of town. Don't know why I didn't realize that Bama was the new kid on the block.! Thanks for keeping me straight!

No need to be snarky. All he's saying is, that game was the beginning of Bama's recent climb to greatness.

Before Saban, they had this guy Mike Shula who was 26-23 (13-19 in conference) at Bama. Technically his record was 10-23 because 16 of his wins had to be vacated due to some NCAA problems.
So, if you consider that worthy of the best college football team in 2008, have at it.

Florida beat Bama in the sec championship game and then won the national championship that year.

You are absolutely correct. My error. LSU was the 2007 champs, with the game of course being played in 2008.

about 10,000 other people wrote letters to the President, BOT, AD, and anybody else who would listen, saying, enough is enough. I am sure mine was the one that put it over the top, and Dabo was named Interim coach the next week.
(For those who were on another planet, 10/9/08 was the Wake game we lost 12-7, even though we moved the ball between the 20 yard lines seemingly at will all night long.) Never been so mad or frustrated after a game. Well, maybe after 70-33, but for different reasons.
