Homebrewers

What type of setup do you use to make your batches? My stove sucks so I was thinking of using a turkey fryer outside.

The turkey fryer will work fine, but you've got to make sure you use a thermometer to regulate the temp correctly.

And make sure you thaw it first.***

I used that setup for my first two batches...

then moved inside to the gas stove. I found that temperature regulation is much more difficult when using the turkey fryer vs. the stove.

The stove does take considerably longer to get up to temperature, but not having to worry about major fluctuations is worth it..imo.

If you don't have access to a good stove though, the turkey fryer is a solid option.

I used to brew a good bit...had very limited success

with the turkey fryer option. Many of the batches came out bitter, best I could attribute it to was poor temperature regulation or the possibility of bacterial contamination from open air brewing.

Inside always seemed better, whether on an electric or gas stove. And sterilization, sterilization, sterilization is the key to a good brew.

a built in therometer. I found if I use the lid, it helps with temp regulating... just use a pot holder when removing it when you need to stir good. (I learnt that the hard way)
