football this morning. Bottom line is it’s the fans that will determine whether or not they want to continue supporting their team. Here’s the argument:

Assume you are a hard working individual who has a good job and makes $200,000 a year. Not bad at all. You have a wife, three kids and a nice four bedroom home. In addition to what you pay annually to the school’s athletic club (IPTAY) plus the cost of four season tickets, you are being asked to give even more money so your school can pay the top wide receiver $400,000..

That’s right…you make $200,000 but are being asked to help pay a 19 year old kid $400,000. Plus, who knows, he might transfer at the end of the year and not even play in your bowl game.

Won’t take long for this to get old.

Agreed. The fans need to take a stand. They are obviously taken for granted and even viewed as idiots by the Power brokers of the sport.

Not only that, but how is it not minor leagues being run through an academic institution?

I’ll pull for Clemson student-athletes.

As far as minor leagues go I have about the same amount of interest in minor league football as I do minor league baseball.

That's exactly what it is.***

The problem there is we are blinded to the devotion to our university.... and its football program. What made college football an institution in the south was there was no other game in town. Before the Panthers came to Charlotte, and even now with how they play, our pride and joy came from Friday nights and Saturday afternoons.

In states like the carolinas, alabama, and MS, there is no other professional sports team in town. Even TN didn't have one until the Titans and Predators arrived.

I grew up in Minnesota.... where high school and college hockey rule the world. We had the North Stars... but when the North Stars started raising ticket prices, everyone was like.... you can go screw yourself b/c I would rather go watch my high school or the Gophers play hockey for less money. So the North Stars moved to Dallas where they were the only ice hockey game in town. It worked out well for them, and now Minnesota has another NHL team in the Wild, but..... I guess this is where I'm going.

We will always root for the Tigers.... and since SC is such a small market like Alabama and Mississippi, I think its going to be hard to say because of NIL, I'm not going to support the Tigers, or pay money to IPTAY, or get season tickets. We shall see. We have a great leader of our program and he is taking the road less traveled on how things are going in college football.

I think at the end of the day, college football will become a minor league to the NFL. It happens in many other sports... why is it is unreasonable to assume it will happend in football. I think the only reason why it hasn't is because of money. The money a good college football program brings to a university is unmatched. Unlike dominance in any other sport. Maybe the train has left the station, but I hope that it isn't too late.
