That looks like a pretty darn starting lineup.. and some of the best depth across that board that we have ever had.

Only thing I would as of right now change is that McMichael would be a 2 deep or starter as BV said he's going to be needed immediately.

Only reason I don't have him in the 2-deep is the fact that he is NOT a January enrollee, but he could make it anyway if he is a quick study.

I think Potter will ultimately beat out Spiers at punter. He's a phenomenal punter... iirc, he even won some sort of national punting competition in Vegas.

That's exciting. Punter was hugely needed this year. Expecially later in the year... field advantage was not in our favor often..

You do good work. I like the overview. I am sure there will be minor adjustments but provides real perspective of great depth. I am sure the transfers are a real uncertainty, but it could be much higher with some big surprises; or much less.

No way Yeargin will be a 3rd String DE!

And if he stays, doubtful Register will be 4th String.

If healthy, he would be an outstanding QB at Furman, Citadel

That may be the most complete team that I have ever seen Clemson field.

I think KJ Henry may take a RS
Jan 16, 2018, 5:17 PM
|
|
Simply due to him needing to put on some weight and the depth that we have at DE. I could see him doing like Ferrell and blowing up as a RS FR

Looks about like I was predicting with a couple changes

At TE I think that as long as he returns to pre-injury form, Garrett Williams will definitely pass Richard on the depth chart. Without checking, I'm pretty sure he received a good bit more playing time than Richard behind Leggett in 2016.
Possibly switch Reeves and DeHond at RT #2.
Either Fields or Terrell ahead of Simmons at NCB (depending on which on moves to the boundary CB position to replace Ryan Carter) with Simmons as SS#1.
Powell ahead of Feaster as our 2nd KR.
Other than these minor changes and possibly some changes with the backup DE rotation based on spring and fall camp performance, I agree with everything else completely.

Pollard stays at tackle and he and Carman battle it out while Bockhurst takes the guard spot. No way Henry passes Yeargin IMO. I think Wallace starts over Muse

Well done ... a couple of thoughts
Jan 16, 2018, 7:40 PM
|
|
1) It may take a game or two for QB change as you state,
2) Terrell may beat out Fields based on demonstrated coverage skills,
3) A healthy Bockhorst will compete strong at G positions, and
4) SLB may be most open competition.
What a talented group of young men. Go Tigers!

Shaq Smith starting? Skalski will play long before he does. Garrett Williams will be out TE. Looks pretty good otherwise. Now who transfers that's another story.

Why do you think Skalski starts before Shaq? Shaq was 5*'s for a reason.
What do you mean Williams will be out at TE? You mean he starts? Hes not the most athletic guy hes a great blocker though.

I would switch it up just a little bit
QB- Lawrence, Johnson, Brice- I agree Tuck & Coop depart CU (Hope they move KB to WR or use him for a run packages) RB- Feaster (overall best RB) Travis Etienne Jr (MUST WORK ON PASS PRO!) Fuller, Choice
WR-9- Higgins/ Overton / Thompson WR-2- Powell/ Rodgers/ Kendrick WR-5- ( I could have the numbers wrong but I thought 5 was the slot in base) Renfrow/Rodgers/Chase
TE- Richard/ Williams/ Smith
LT- Hyatt/ Jackson LG- Simpson (cant wait to see big boy play a full season) Stewart C- Falicnelli / Cervenka RG- Bockhorst or Cervenka / Pollard RT- Anchrum or Jackson / Pollard It will be fun to see who wins the RT & RG spots, neither Pollard or Anchrum made themselves the obvious starter so will be fun to see if 5* OT can slide in a impress the coaches enough to start by the time ACC play gets around. Not sure if Pollard or Anchrum can slide in to play guard if Jackson wins the RT job. I would say have Travis Etienne Jr as the starting RB bc of just how explosive he is when he has the ball in his hands, but the problem is he struggles mightily at pass pro. (Bama game) If he hits the weights enough and work on his technique and footwork then maybe he will take over the starting job. I still like Feaster combo of speed and power if he can get some blocks and not hesitate & trust his instincts he will be 1st team ALL ACC by the end of the year.
DE- Bryant/ Thomas/ Foster or Kelly DT- Wilkins/ Huggins/ Robinson DT- Lawrence/ Pinckney/ Jefferies or Belk DE- Ferrell / Henry / Mascoll (I would like him to RS just bc of the depth alone in front of him)
Will- KJ / JD Davis / Williams Mike- Lamar/ Skalski / Judah Sam- S. Smith/ C. Smith/ Mike Jones Jr Nickel DB- McMichael or Wallace Boundary CB- Mullen / Fields Field CB- Terrell/ Williams or McMichael / Dawkins Jr SS- Wallace (unless its nickel package I would move him down to LOS & Let Muse play SS) / Muse FS- Simmons / Johnson or Turner
Since we run nickel defense about 40% of the time would like to see these 5 guys in the secondary and let them play whatever position as far as the CB's go. Mullen, Terrell, Fields, Wallace, Simmons. The thing that scares me about having Fields in nickel package is I think Terrell & Mullen should be the outside CB's IMO they are the two best cover corners so let him play outside. Problem is if they play outside that forces Fields to play inside and typically the slot WR is smaller and usually faster then the other WR's. So fields would have to worry about the WR going either way causing him to have to flip his hips alot and IMO fields doesn't have the best hips which causes him to grab alot and I can just see it now PI after PI after PI. So maybe once McMichael gets in the playbook he can take over and play that slot WR at NB. Should be one NASTY defense either way, CBV should be able to let 7 play in coverage for 85% of the snaps and those bad boys on the DL pin their ears back and go crazy! I smell 50+ sacks!
