I Object To The Lack Of Speed Limiting Play Calling Nonsense

I found the article and the conversation to be ridiculous and offensive. Of our top nine receivers, six are former 4 stars recruits and three are former 3 stars. I think all of them were top 300 players, and several of them top 100 players. Adam Randall runs track, posting a 10.94 in the 100 meters. Brandon Spector and Ronan Hanafin both run the 40 in 4.4. Antonio Williams was a freshman all American! The others were big time recruits for a reason.

Why we started the Duke game running the ball and throwing to the sidelines was confusing. Why we kept it up all night was maddening. But lets not blame the receiving group for it. Everyone should back away from the ledge and see how this plays out. Dabo Swinney is a proven great coach, and frankly Garrett Riley is as well.

I think this lack of speed is a misdirection on why we can’t go vertical. When a defense is stacking the box it’s advertising they are willing to risk giving up a big play downfield. If the line and RB can provide protection long enough a WR can get open if Cade doesn’t bail on the play or airmail the pass. It’s time for Dabo and Riley to challenge their boundary receivers to do their jobs. Run their routes with better technique and they will get open more often then not.

How do know the times are real? Unless one of our coaches times players in practice, what was said back when the players were in high school is just old recruiting publicity. Don't you think there is a reason we don't throw the ball deep?

It's easier to blame the receivers physical shortcomings, whether real or not, than to blame the coaches being unable to coach them on how to get open.

Dukes secondary was clearly faster all-around

than our wide outs. Times have changed.
