I must have watched the wrong game yesterday because I could

have sworn that we beat Maryland. Reading through all of these posts this morning, I am beginning to think that Clemson lost yesterday and will be lucky to finish .500 this season. And I can't believe that USuC has already beat us and we haven't even played the game yet!
Quit letting the negative eat your minds up! Get behind this team folks, great things are still ahead. Go Tigers!

I don't know what game you watched, but I saw another very sloppy game against a team that had a significant number of starters out due to injury. We won a game against a that was inferior due to injury. I don't see anything big and bad about our team right now.

You've got to remember that as a top 10 team, we will get

everyone's best shot and particularly on their home field regardless of injuries. Yes, we did not execute, we turned the ball over and still we were able to poise ourselves down the stretch and win the game. 5 years ago, we couldn't do that, nor were we in the top 10.
Sometimes you just have to take the ugly wins and move forward. This place would have blown up in 1981, as we had some very ugly wins yet still finished undefeated and won the NC.

i totally agree with you. i watched the game too and clemson/boyd was as sloppy as i've seen. that's the difference in spurrier and dabo, spurrier doesnt sugarcoat it. listening to dabo press conference and he watched a different game too saying that boyd had a great game. i mean, come on, maryland was a high school team today.

That is the reason we are not "tough" not the strength coach

The head coach can be a soft a$$ sometimes and I actually like him. But he has to stop giving everyone a trophy and tell em like it is sometimes

I'm with you. Of course if you listened to Ed Cunningham we were losing the game until the fourth quarter. We were up by 6 and ESPN pekker heads were talking like the tigers were down by three touchdowns.

Down by 3 touchdowns and getting beat by a team made up of walkons and first year freshmen.

Exactly. The announcers kept saying how the back ups looked like first stringers at practice. It's not like they were playing scrubs.

Ok that said, our offense is really out of synch at times. Positives: Hot Rod Defense (especially after two fumbles) Catman

It's not that we won,it's how. Maryland took it to us,and they were without their stating QB, two top WR's and a RB. Meanwhile,FSU took a healthy Maryland team to the woodshead last month. And if you looked at how the coots came back against the #5 Tigers of Missouri,I certainly wouldn't put my money on our Tigers in Columbia. Look ,it's not allways about the win,but how well you played. Unfortunately for Clemson, while they are winning, they look like an 8 cylinder automobile running on 7 cylinders, with a catalytic converter about to go bad,and 4 underpressurized tires. I am behind the team, but nothing good will come out of the type of performances we have had since B.C.

I was just expecting at this point in the season to see progress. It feels like we're sliding backward.

I agree, but last week was a huge mental blow that carried over to this week. Those losses used to beat us two weeks in a row. We have lingering injuries, in particular with Tajh, but still mustered through it and came out on top.
If we lose next at UVa, then I'll concede that everyone is right. But these guys continue to persevere through adversity and find a way to win. Give them some credit.

We won. But should we ignore the fact there was no surge and precious little protection from our offensive line? Should we just stick our heads in the sand and not talk about it because we defeated a beat up, depleted Maryland?

fixed. A loss at Maryland would have lingered for weeks. The fact that these kids pulled together down the stretch and came out victorious speaks volumes about this team.

That is the question with this team Highs and lows. Lows and Highs. A weather guesser need to be forecasting our games

I'm really not talking about the win. There is no substitute for a Win. But I was sitting in front of my TV with a "deer in the headlights look" at the, for lack of a better vocabulary, sloppy play of a team that has no reason not to be hitting on all cylinders.
Most, the overwhelming most, of our receivers was one guy - Sammy. We moved him all over the field, but to just call him the "go-to guy" is an understatement. We were so one dimensional, we were lucky to be playing a team with most of its best players injured.
If we continue our trend this season, I don't even want to think about our game with the chickens (I watched them defeat MO, and they are playing at a much higher level than we are right now - God, that was hard to say).
But more importantly, I am really wondering if there are any behind-the-scene issues we are not aware of, because there has been regression in our play this season. How can you be 7 games into the season and discover we have to simplify the offense because the players are confused? And the evidence of what Morris said last week was still on the field yesterday.

I don't disagree with anything that you've said here and a great analysis of how probably most of us felt for the first three quarters. I think this team was so focused on not losing instead of winning and that has created a lot of this. We lost a lot of confidence last week, and we've got to get that back.
As for USuC, I look at that game like the LSU game from last year. I believe we will play to the competition and be ready for that one. Unfortunately, this week we played to the competition in the reverse sense, but were able to create separation down the stretch.

It seemed to get better in the 4th but felt like we were still in the funk for a good while there. Had they had some of their starters playing, it certainly could have been a loss. 3 turnovers is bad but at least we held them to field goals on those two in bad field position.
Good to see the offense work better toward the end of the game.

I am just glad we got a way with a win. After all the hype from last week vs FSU..."game of the century" I can only imagine how the players felt. We found a way to win and next on the list is Virginia. Go Tigers
