I keep reading that CBB is heavily involved in our basketball…

program. This makes sense, given his influential role as our basketball coach.
I also keep reading what a horrible basketball program we have.
Based on that, how much responsibility should CBB have for Clemson not being very good in basketball? I’m certainly not blaming him - I thought it was going to be a tough job too - but if he is going to be driving the decisions about our basketball program as many of you say, shouldn’t he also be partly held responsible for the situation we are currently in?
I’m just trying to understand here. TIA.

he was our coach, he let the players do their own thing and stayed out of the way. If Brownell would just leave the keys to the gym hanging outside of his office and let the players conduct practice on their own, not only would this team likely improve, but it would skirt those pesky NCAA rules about coaches having limited practice time with the players. he just needs to recruit kids that really love the game and let them take it from there.

BB can only do so much as coach. Even Barry Switzer said "Players make plays, not coaches." I wouldn't expect BB to eek out anymore success than Switzer did with those forgettable OU football programs of the 70's and 80's.

My best way to explain is basketball matters about 10 percent for a major D-1 program . For football it’s 90. The rest of the sports is 0.

If you look at, or believe the stats, the Clemson BB program is better than it's been with a lot of coaches. But it isn't near as good as the Clemson faithful believes that it should be, and I'm one of those that believe our BB program should be MUCH better than it is, especially with what the coaches are making, and all the money that was spent for the renovation of LittleJohn!!!
