I keep hearing that KB will start next season.

I really hope that is the case because it would give us an experienced QB next season. In order for this to happen , KB has got to get better throwing the ball. Will he ever be DW prolly not but he has got to be able to hit open WRs. Do you really think TL or HJ will sit next season if the passing game continues to be this bad? We will have a bunch of hungry talented WRs next year wanting a chance to shine.

HJ and TL will have a very hard time beating out KB next

year with the experience he will have to go with his ability. He's not a great passer yet, but his running ability is a difference maker. If he adds another 5-10 pounds of muscle in the off season, he'll be even better.
I'm thinking his 15 games of starting experience and national championship will give him a leg up on the two young guns.

But next season we will need more out of our Offense because the D will take a step back. I agree with what you say but having a 1 dimensional O will only work for so long.

If dabo wants to put in a pass happy offense he will.
If not, he wont.
Nebraska was unstoppable with a 1 dimension offense so it is possible to win.

"having a 1 dimensional O will only work for so long."
Bro, please ...
Cain needs to step up, and catch some balls - having a sure TD go through his hands, and also not giving the extra effort on the play he lost his shoe isn't KBs ball delivery problem.
(and I'm a huge believer, fan of Cain - want him to continue to rise up and be "the" guy that Mike W was last season).

game. We are definitely NOT a one dimensional offense.
Currently our starting wide receivers are 5-10 182, 5-9 184 and 6-1 192. Given that, it would seem that the current offense is playing to its strengths. Higgins and Overton seem to have great potential, but it may be next year before those two huge targets are fully operational. That will be a big help to KB next year in the passing game AND in the running and screen blocking game.

couldn't run the ball.
But, we are definitely NOT a one dimensional team. We are playing to our strengths and not trying to be something that we are not built to be - this year.
Next year, I expect us to be a stronger running team and a stronger passing team as we get bigger targets like we had the previous two years.

You take out the Kent st and Louisville game and it's not that great. I get it and I expected a drop off this season but it's getting to be the time of the year to start clicking. I know we can't win a NC every season but I do believe we have the talent to do so this season. Just like you say we have to play to our strengths but we have not been talking full advantage of that.

What are these unused strengths you are referring to?

We are #4 in the country. We've played somewhat conservatively offensively because of the dominance of our defense and the injuries to our quarterback, which you expect us to do. Without Kelly Bryant we are nowhere near the running team we are with him in.
We are right where we need to be today and getting better each week.

Bottom line KB will have to start throwing the ball better to beat a team like Bama .

Alabama doesn't throw the ball as much or as well as we do. Alabama is going to have to throw the ball better to beat us as our defense is better than any they will have faced up to the point.

And we'll have to start kicking FGs, and having our D stop the opposing offense. And have our WRs make catches.
And ...
KB is doing a great job, stop with this veiled attack -

If we can make it through the ACCCG and into the playoff, I like our chances. Give Dabo and our staff a month to prepare, and give our secondary and Big Dex a month to get healthy, we could be really dangerous in the playoff. Defense wins championships, and if we can get healthy, our D is probably the best in the country.

KB will definitly be the starter next year IMO

He brings an entirely new dynamic to our offense. Not saying TL or HJ cant become great runners, but they have to put some size on. As amazing as TL is, I wouldn't be surprised at all to see him redshirted going into next year. Put 20lbs on him his redshirt year...that's scary! Then he could start or be behind HJ his redshirt freshman season once KB is gone.

I think HJ pushes him to the limit next spring . This O runs best when we can hit those 10-20 yard passes. HJ can move around enough to be a threat to take off

DW4 missed deep balls every game. KB has actually thrown the ball extremely well this year. He missed some gimme passes for sure, but every dog has his day.
Our running game wouldn't be what it is today without the threat of KB. He will also be a Senior next year with an entire year of experience under his belt.
I can't see why we would want anyone other than KB under center next year...

I agree and he should be better next season But if not I don't see the reason to keep the others on the bench. With a decent passing game we beat NCST by 3 TDs. The way the game was played NCST should have won.

KB has been in the system for 3 years now learning from the coaches. Not to mention he has a QB coach outside of Streeter. If he hasn't learned how to toss the biscuit by now, chances are he won't. DW had the same amount of time at Clemson and look at him now. KB is not a true QB, great athlete but not a QB.

I think he will be splitting some time with KB early in the season in the Fall, and then will just end up taking it over full time by game 4.**

Wrong.
But you are entitled to your opinion talking (while we are in the midst of a CFB playoff run and suggesting keys to offense will be handed over to a player not even on campus yet).
But carry on ...

Right just pure speculation because we are fans. I agree with both of you about TL. It's a big jump from HS to the ACC but if he is the best QB play him. I don't want to hear he doesn't know the playbook, He is smart and will figure it out.

Oh, I noticed exactly what you were referring to.
I was saying that while we are playing THIS season, our QB who is 8-1 this season, and in the playoff hunt will be benched for a Freshman QB next year.
Please ...
I just find the suggestions of being inadequate in 2018 (given the success we've seen in 2017) incredibly disrespectful to our current QB.

Anyone who tells you they know who will start at QB next year is full of it. Nobody knows how KB will progress in the off season or how TL will look in the spring. How about the other 3-4 who are all capable. How they will progress and if all decide to stick it out.

We are not the same passing team with him either. The tailback would probably have more yards with a better passer in there because they would not be able to stack the box. We won't play a freshman over the senior quarterback, unless somehow we can talk him into thinking he should be a receiver or db. It is not going to happen. I would even say he might not be second string qb, unless KB changes position to have a shot at the pros.

As long as KB is healthy he will start. Dabo won’t start a freshman over an upperclassman until the upperclassman proves he can’t manage the game. What makes you think he would start an inexperienced freshman over a proven veteran next year?

Let the best QB win. DW was a QB first that could run if needed. Not asking any QB to be DW. I just would like to have one that could make the routine throws and an occasional deep pass. These guys are D-1 athletes, giving HJ or ZC a chance this year with the 1s may prove what most already know. A great athlete doesn't always make the best QB.
