Meet Clemson's Most Eligible Bachelorette

Clemson's Most Eligible Bachelorette: Meet Julianne McLeod

Lauren Muscatell
Clemson

As a rising senior majoring in health science, Julianne McLeod is Clemson's Most Eligible Bachelorette. Not only is she a member of the Calhoun Honors College, she is also a member of Alpha Lambda Delta, and serves as an Supplemental Instructor Leader on campus (can you say SMART). This summer she'll be completing a study abroad in Spain before returning to Clemson where she will pick up her undergraduate research with Dr. Sapna Sarupria and running the world. Grab her while you can!

1. How do you feel being nominated as Clemson's Most Eligible Bachelorette?
This honestly made my week, if not my entire month. But now I feel like I have to live up to some high expectations, which makes me nervous.

2. You're a health science major, tell us about that experience.
Clemson's health science program is well-known by employers throughout the entire southeast (lucky for me), and for a very good reason. I've been given an extensive educational background in the various aspects of healthcare - from public health, healthcare research and epidemiology to the more clinical aspects such as anatomy/physiology and psychology. Since I am in the Health Services Administration concentration, I'll also be completing a minor in Business Administration. Being a part of this program has been challenging, but I think it has proven to be everything I didn't know I needed for post-graduation life.

3. Tell us about your worst date.
Oh gosh. Well there was a boy who liked me in high school who was super into wake boarding, so he decided he was going to be the one to teach me how to do it. Unfortunately for both of us I'm very uncoordinated when both of my feet are attached to a single object, so I kept falling. Not only was that in itself embarrassing, but the last time I tried to get up the bottoms of my bathing suit came untied and sank to the bottom of the lake… I've stuck to skiing since then.

4. What advice would you give to guys about dating?
If you're trying to impress a girl but you're on a budget, definitely cook for her. It's so attractive. Even if it isn't fancy and you aren't that good of a cook, no girl will ever turn down a man-made home cooked meal.

5. How has being a member of Kappa Delta helped to shape you as the bachelorette you are?
Kappa Delta has taught me more things and provided me with more opportunities than I can even name. I'm from Tennessee, which means that I showed up here freshman year knowing a grand total of two other human beings on the entire campus. The fact that I was able to progress from that awkward freshman phase into the happy, thriving student that I am now is largely due to my choice to join KD. It has introduced me to the best friends I have ever had, while allowing me to be a part of something larger than myself on and off campus. I seriously wouldn't trade my Greek life experience for the world.

6. What's your favorite building on campus and why?
Does Death Valley count as a building on campus? Because duh.

7. Describe a perfect date.
I'm not very high maintenance when it comes to these things. If you order me a pizza and lay with me on the couch I'll be as happy as a clam.

8. What types of characteristics are you searching for in your next relationship?
I really enjoy a good sense of humor, and intelligence is always very attractive. I tend to get along well with people who can be laid-back and ambitious at the same time - having life goals other than getting swole at Fike is generally a plus. Not that I would ever complain about a six-pack.

9. What's a make or break for you?
I don't do clinginess. Or dishonesty. Nobody needs either of those things in their life.

10. What is one of your hidden talents?
I'm actually fairly good at painting things (including coolers… fellas). I was really into art in middle and high school but had to put it on hold to pursue other academic interests in college.

11. Plans after graduation?
I plan on trying to find a job in healthcare and working for a year or two before applying to graduate schools. I'd love to work in the Greenville or Charleston area, but I'll take any opportunity I am given.

12. Chick-fil-a or Bojangles?

Oh Chick-Fil-a, 100%. I keep a container of their sauce on me at all times.

13. What has been your most memorable experience at Clemson thus far?
Being in Death Valley surrounded by my friends when we beat USC this past football season. It was incredible. I'm not even from this state but I will never not hate the Gamecocks.
