for last year and this years worth of opinions and favoritism towards who is starting at RB1
from the #1 jerseys being sold instead of DJs and even instead of Cades
it's been a class act in talent identification and fan favorite selection
Go Tigers! Program Changers! play the freshmen and start #7 how many more times do we have to lose

I just want to add that Clemson's stable of backs are too small in general. Even Mafa is on the small side of big. Seems like they want slot receiver style backs and not the through the line bulldozers. Not that small backs are bad, but I would like to always see a bulldozer on the team. I don't believe we even have a fullback on the team.
Given that most defenses have figured out how to defend the screen pass as a run play, it would be nice to see the comeback of full backs.

5 yards a carry is Phil Mafah's average against Notre Dame and Florida State and the others.
Go look up your boy SH1Ps averages. then averages vs top 15 teams

I am not sure why all the hate for Shipley? The guy has had huge games for Clemson on his career and Clemson has won games where He absolutely Carried the load and won the game. Shipleys stats 2023 112 Caries for 515 yards and 3 touchdowns. Mafah. 2023. 109 625 8 touchdowns.
Yes Mafah has had a better year although I did not check receiving yards. But they have virtually the same amount of Carries so it’s not like the coaches have been keeping Mafah on the bench. And Shipley is not a scrub!! And you need multiple backs! If one back Carries the ball 36 times a game chances are He will wear out by the end of the year or get injured!!! Thank Goodness there are multiple backs who can play!

I agree. He was averaging just over 6 yards per carry going into the game. The difference was his being the #1 back. He played the same game he always does.

the bigger back that has better vision helps the OL IMO. I have watched enough football and enough of Ship and Mafah to know Mafah is the better player. We have plenty of sample size on this. Lets move forward. Why is shipley guaranteed to keep the job when he is healthy. He is less productive. Period.

Was he averaging 186 yds per game? Did he have some 41 yd touchdowns in earlier games?
If you don’t think that was an outstanding performance, there’s no help for you.
But we know you just need to dump. Carry on.

Well... It's no longer speculation - Mafah carried the load Saturday and has

earned more carries than he has been given in a secondary role. I'll leave it to the coaches to decide whether that means naming Mafah the new starting RB or whether it simply means Shipley gets less carries in order to give Mafah more. However, if it were me, Mafah would be starting against GT this week regardless of Shipley's status...

This kid has earned his chance - but there is no need to be dissin' Shipley.
Give 7 the rock and ride on.
