How in the world can you call a Roughing the Passer

penalty on a non-targeting style hit on the QB when the hit actually affected the QB's throw resulting in a wounded duck ball that barely flailed over the line? Trotter clearly reached the QB before completing that throw, and it was clear from the result that his football play / hit had a direct impact on the lack of success of that attempt. He didn't finish the play with a boom bounce or tea bag act either. It was as straight up a successful defensive play as you could order.

There have been some bad calls in my day, but that was one of the absolute worst. You cannot coach a player to do anything different than Trotter did there. The other PF was also bogus, but this one that followed took the cake.

Well, in the Ref's defense on that call. Ummm, I got nothing, I have no idea what they were thinking.

Both of the RTP calls were outrageous...

Those are the kinds of plays that gets you on a Sunday roster, not penalized for roughing the passer. Typical incompetent and sub-standard ACC officiating.

Sometimes good things fall apart so better things can fall together.

For some reason they call roughing the passer, even if it is a clean hit, when the defensive player lands directly on top of the qb with all his weight instead of trying to divert some of this weight. I think it is a bad rule since it is very hard to alter your fall on the landing process.

I have thought about it. I saw the replays at the time, but

we were fussing about the call. Was there contact with the QB's head or neck with Trotter's hand/arm? That's the only thing I can come up with.
