Dec 3, 2013, 3:35 PM

not sure why though.

might be the pricepoint, or the continual updating....

flag link military_tech thumb_downthumb_up

You don't have $300 to blow?

giving them internet access.

2024 white level memberbadge-donor-20yr.jpg flag link military_tech thumb_downthumb_up

Nook is okay for some stuff, cheap, durable.

Dec 3, 2013, 3:42 PM

You can do some word stuff, but with dubious quality.

But it's cheap. Much cheeper than $400.

When I say it's cheap, I mean 'inexpensive.'

flag link military_tech thumb_downthumb_up

get a nexus 7 instead of a Nook, no?

Dec 3, 2013, 3:43 PM

inexpensive, and you can download the nook app for free ;)

flag link military_tech thumb_downthumb_up

I think you can get nook apps for just about anything.

Dec 3, 2013, 3:47 PM

Even my Remington 870.

Dec 3, 2013, 3:47 PM

from the adderall that you've spent $50k on throughout the duration of their lives because they're actually half-way normal.

Kids don't need computers or cellphones. When they get a drivers license, they should get a cell phone...a computer when they go to college and it's necessary.

2024 white level memberbadge-donor-15yr.jpgringofhonor-lakebum1-110.jpg flag link military_tech thumb_downthumb_up

LOL thanks dad.

Dec 3, 2013, 3:49 PM

Wait-you aren't a dad.

My kids are more active than you would even believe if I told you.

The reality today is that if they cannot use a computer before college it is unlikely they get into college.

My 3rd grader uses Ipads in her class. My 6th grader is given assignments that require a computer.

I hear ya, but not realistic.

Kindle Fire HD is nice, as is the Nexus 7. Both are <$300,

Dec 3, 2013, 3:56 PM

and the Kindle is closer to $200. Both sport decently powerful hardware, and both have a lot of options. I love my Nexus 7. It's a pretty strong little machine and makes a great toy. If you have a data plan, you would do well the LTE version, unless you only want WIFI connections.
