I have a moral conundrum I would like to get opinions on

I have an older work colleague, very nice guy, been around the block and has taught me a good bit over the years. That is to say that I really respect him, and I hate to stand by as he continues to make this mistake in public/in front of customers. However, I am worried if I bring this issue up it will be detrimental to our relationship....
You know the old saying, "I got my asss chewed out"? We've all said it before, and it's universally understood what it means. Unfortunately, he adds a twist to it that's rather uncomfortable. Instead of saying "I got my asss chewed out", he will say "I got my asss eaten out". As in, "Yeah, we're about 3 weeks late right now so Larry has been eating my asss out every day".
At least 3 times this has led to very awkward lunches or meetings with people. Sometimes people can barely contain their laughter, other times people are visibly disgusted and do not know how to react.
I won't lie and say I don't find it absolutely hilarious, if it were most people I'd just make fun of them relentlessly behind their back and let it go. But I feel bad in this situation, at the same time I don't want to be the person to explain it to him.

That may not be a popular stance in 2024, but I'm not really one to cave to societal pressures. You ass-eaters can lick all the buttonholes you want to, but don't pretend like I'm the nasty one from refraining from taking part.

There was the big ole redneck dude named Austin (iirc) that would soap up a washcloth, give the arsehole a vigorous scrubbing, then turn around and do the full cheek spread to rinse it off.
