i.e. Scott, Elliot, Eason, etc.
The issue is hiring coaches with little to no experience simply because of connection. Or handing out scholarships or preferred walkons to players that have no business being on the roster simply because of a connection.

Scott had any great creds to justify their hires at the time. What they had was a prior connection to the program, just as our current coaches do. Some worked, some, regrettably, have appeared not to. But, the criteria was no different in the beginning.

I don't disagree with you but when they aren't "working" we need to do something. That said, Streeter wasn't working and we made a change that hasn't seemed to help much at this point and it was supposed to be a "homerun" hire

Jeff Scott was a HS head coach and a WR coach at the college level before becoming WR coach at Clemson. He then had 8 years of experience as a position coach prior to becoming OC.
Tony Elliott had 4 years experience as a WR coach at the college level prior to becoming RB coach at Clemson. He had 9 years experience as a position coach prior to becoming OC.

Kyle Richardson, for example, was just some yokel high school coach who was granted the opportunity of his career based on…what? And how is that working out?
Diminishing the accomplishments and success of Jeff Scott is a pretty lame way to make a point.

WAS a former player at Clemson, and that his family had prior connections with the program through Tommy Bowden. If that is not Friends and Family, then what is?
The point is, having a prior connection to the program shouldn't be a detriment to hiring. But, it shouldn't get you preferential treatment when you have no experience, either. You could almost make the argument that the success Dabo had with Scott and Elliot is what led him to further hire former players back into the program. He just went a bridge too far with it, it seems.
