I feel bad for the guy who follows Saban at Bama.

Ain’t so way in hell he’s replicating the success Bama is seeing right now. Bama fans will expect it. The first 2-3 loss season and the pressure will be on.

I think Dabo is the only one who would be able to continue their domination. He played there on a Natty winner, coached there, grew up and went school there. I'm sure he has tons of connections there. For anyone else, it might be a nightmare.

After Bear Bryant retired

it took them a while to find a coach who could meet their expectations.
Ray Perkins succeeded Bear Bryant. He was 32–15–1 in four season at Bama but a 5–6 season 1984 (the school's first losing season since 1957), along with a growing number unsatisfied boosters and alumni prompted him to leave Bam for the HC position with the Tampa Bay Buccaneers.
Bill Curry was next. His three-year record was 26–10 which included Bama's first SEC title and first major bowl appearance since the Bryant era. However, he was 0–3 against Auburn. Bama, offered Curry a new contract but the contract included some provisions that pi$$ed him off (no raise and removal of his power to hire and fire assistants), so he left Bama and accepted an offer to become the head coach at Kentucky.
Stallings followed Curry and did a pretty good job for them. Of course, he would later be implicated in some pretty significant recruiting violations that resulted in the football program being placed on NCAA probation including a loss of scholarships, forfeiting games, and a postseason ban. Stallings resigned at the end of the 96 season.
The loss of scholarships as a result of the NCAA probation hampered Bama for several years. They would only win eight or more games just three times between Stallings' departure and Nick Saban's arrival in 2007. They also had four of the programs only five losing seasons since Bryant arrived.
Needless to say, Dubose, Frenchione, Price and Shula were all disastrous coaching hires for them.

For real. Even if you had a fantasy team of
coaches Dabo, Meyer (I know), Matt Campbell, Patterson, whomever, etc. it would be near impossible to duplicate what Nicky has done and keep the natives from getting restless.

If he does well, Bama may go after him.
That said, I'm not sure Saban will ever retire.
