Wake me up when this 'Bama saga is over, because it's getting cousin-level weird

1. How did Alabama NOT have a coach in place before Saban announced? Did he just bail?

2. This is open season on recruiting and portal transfers...the longer they wait, the longer they stand to lose players.

3. I'm sure [Fox] and the Big 10 are freaking out about DeBoer leaving Washington, because it will just be a 'husk' of a program in their new mega conference.

4. No one seems to want the job, except maybe Kiffin. Are their infractions coming?

Please post your conspiracies below...but I'm sleeping until the bad man goes away.

Why would ESPN be concerned DeBoer leaves Waahington? Fox is the benefactor of a strong B10

Thanks for correcting me on the Big 10/Fox deal. That's my mistake.

But isn't that even more reason why Big 10 would be opposed?

My understanding is that Saban kept his health diagnosis close so that it would not affect their play in the CFP. No one but he knew, and it happened fast so that even he did not know this would be it for him either.

That said...I could be and probably am wrong.

Health is always a tough issue due to it being personally protected. I think he's saying the right things now. Maybe it will come out after the coaching search there is something more severe.

It's just all so sudden and strange. DeBoer I think wins this no matter what, and I don't think his HC experience gets him to 'Bama (despite Mark Schlabach's current reporting) but I do think it gets DeBoer paid BIG TIME to stay with Washington as they enter unchartered (poo) waters of the Big 10.

Time to wake up buddy. It's over and it's not Dabo. Guess Wahington is on the clock now.

I don't understand how any AD is "doing their job" if they don't have a short

list, evolving routinely, of strong candidates to replace...at a bare minimum...their head football and men's basketball coach (and for some programs like Clemson, baseball). Those relationships should be cultivated and maintained. This seems especially true when your the AD of a school with a premier football program and a 72 year old head coach.

DeBoer to Alabama is a "done deal".
