I don't see anyone who turned down Bama job

ever being offered the job again, including Dabo. So, if he turned down the Bama job, I think that means he will retire at Clemson.

Well its definitely a good recruiting tidbit to be able to say that he was offered Alabama and he chose to stay.

A lot depends on our future spending commitment to football. Other programs are going to dwarf us in NIL funds and facilities in this new and expanded arms race. Just look at what these top tier programs are offering to keep their coaches.
Our administration has some difficult future decisions to make in terms of allocating resources in order to compete, and that may dictate how much longer Dabo remains at Clemson.

I would hope you are right but do not believe you are. This business is 100% what have you done for me lately. The NFL recycles experienced coaches. College football takes the shiny objects of late. Dabo was not quite as shiny this time around due to record slip of late , and the perception it is due to not being portal and NIL friendly. Let Dabo win another natty in the next few years, and that Bama job open back up… Dabo will be their top candidate again.

Roy Williams had a great gig at Kansas when UNC wanted him to come home and replace Dean Smith. Roy said no. But then Matt Doherty stunk it up and UNC called Roy again. This time he came home. I say that to say it’s possible if the new coach fails Bama could reach out to Dabo again. Dabo , like Roy, would have the opportunity to come home as the wanted fixer. Could this happen? No idea , but anything is possible.

And I thought the exact same thing. Yet, football, it's money, and it's fandom is a different animal than basketball. Main difference in that comparison is that Swinney has already won several championships as Clemson's HC. Sports fans and alumni usually have short memories. So you're right, the climate in all of this could totally change given the circumstances in a few years.

Saban tried to hire Dabo back in 2007 and got turned down.

I believe that when Saban and Dabo vacationed together, may be incidental, the talk of Dabo replacing Saban when he retired was on the table. I know they ate dinner together at least once.
This is what I've gleaned from Dabo's conversations over the years.
1. He is a Christian and lives as good a Christian life as a man can.
2. He is honest, more than Ole Abe.
3. He believes God put him at Clemson and he won't leave until God changes His mind about it.
4. He is so satisfied where he is 'planted,' that he doesn't want to move, not for love nor money.
Now it's possible Dabo has me fooled but being that I've experience a time in my life in which God chose my home I think I can relate to Dabo about it. I know I loved where God put me and was crushed when that changed. That was ~15 years ago and I still grieve about it even though I'm thankful for where I am now.

again. Never say never. But, as far as Dabo is concerned, he has built his OWN thing here, and I. too believe he will retire when he leaves here.

I hope Bama is willing to give Deboer 4 to 5 years minimum to show what he's going to be. If they go for say 3 years without winning the SEC we'll be doing this again.
