We don't know if there's anything that Dabo don't know or can't do, nor do they. He knows football, and he knows how to win a National Championship.
example: Someone could safely claim that he wouldn't make a great sea captain because there's no way to verify or disprove that off the wall claim.
They are hiding behind a claim that has no validation test. That makes the claim totally invalid, does it not?
They can't stand that he is an elite coach, and try to diminish that any way they can't.

They are complete idiots over there. I am tied of their incessant attempts to gaslight Dabo has a hands off CEO/manager rather than a football guru. It's true that CDS has many facets, but to state that he is not an X's and O's coach (like it is some widely accepted fact) and that his success on the field is wholly credited to his coordinators, is complete and utter bullshyt. Just have a conversation with one and you'll see how they fall right into their ridiculous talking points that they have somehow brainwashed each other into believing.
We are lightyears ahead of that cesspool of a program - they are beneath us.

but the criticism about Dabo knowing what he doesn't know and hiring experts to fill in the gaps sounds like great leadership to me.
Why the world finds few good leaders is because there is no sense of what a true leader does. Most people get promoted because they are able to get something done at a high level. When they are promoted, they continue to DO rather than get others to do. That is not leading people. That's just doing the same thing with more pay.
A great leader will, by definition, know their limitations. Hire great people under them, then shield them from bureaucracy so they can create at high levels. At that point, vision, team-building (unity of direction) and occasional tweaks to challenge/motivate/course correct are what is necessary. Few people can do this well because it shines the light on others and most of our egos are too fragile to deflect praise away from ourselves and onto a subordinate who is now the guy who gets it done on a high level.
I suspect Dabo is plenty X's and O's, but he has built a culture in which he can lead at a high level and trust those around him to do their part a a high level. I would love for my people to look at me the way Dabo's see him. This is leadership -- it doesn't create followers, it creates more leaders. Sign me up, please!!!
