I do prefer double elimination but we still hold our future in our own hands and

May 21, 2015, 6:59 AM

that is a good place to be. We've got a pitcher who I believe will be a great major league starter on the mound for us tonight. He's throwing to the best catcher in the ACC. The guys behind them do produce 1/2 an error a game more than most solid defensive teams, but look at the sticks that each of those guys are swinging. Each of the 3 or 4 guys who have struggled a bit defensively are killing the ball. Right now, today - those 3 or 4 bats are producing so much for us offensively that I couldn't imagine going to a good glove on the bench in their place. We are in a great spot. We are playing great ball at the right time. Why not us? I hope we play Sunday, but if we win today - does that really matter? We will still be moving to the next post season stage, and that's our real goal.

Ultamently our goal should be an ACC championship first. That should be the "real goal." Then we should set our sights elsewhere.

I've said it before and I will say it again....

I think the baseball tournament format utilized by the ACC absolutely blows.

I hate it

Sometimes good things fall apart so better things can fall together.

The tourney format is horrible!!!

I would prefer a single elimination tourney with all 14 teams to what we have now.

Also, we may need two wins to play next week but I see no reason we can't get them.

Go Tigers!!!

Chris Fowler

Interestingly, in a traditional double elimination format...

Clemson would have still played FSU in its first game.

The winner/loser would have faced the winner/loser of the Miami/UVa game

Instead, we get the No. 1 overall seed

Love it or hate it.

But the purpose of pool play is to save a team's pitchers for the NCAA tournament. If you have another method of accomplishing the same goal, please post it.
