It seems to me that the HUNH offense has lost it's ability to wear down the opposing defense late in the game due to the large number of long commercial breaks during the games. Sitting in the stands the wait during these breaks gives the defense a few to several minutes of rest. I know it probably doesn't matter if there are no commercial breaks during the drive, but if there are I'm sure it helps the defense. Anyone else pick up on this?
I have noticed this. The best example of our HUNH offense working was against LSU a few yrs ago. You noticeably see their players getting up slower and breathing hard and bending over tired. Seems like their may have even been a possible fake injury. I'm not sure that we are pushing that as hard lately. I will say this, when we get into the 2 minute drill mode, we are deadly. We get in a rhythm and get the defense on their heels (pun intended). I do think we need a mix with some ball control too to give our D some rest. But, I do like the way you're thinking. I say let's score a couple of quick strikes and then put in some ball control. But, we do have to mix in Gallman, Watson running to keep the defense guessing--and that doesn't have to be from a huddle. I know that most on this board are beyond the simpleton football game watchers, but these obviously set us up for success later in the game. I think our co-OCs are well aware of this. But, I certainly think going forward we should use this if and when we play Alabama. (Assuming they make it out of first round). Especially since Satan hates it . . . Go Tigers!
PS--Can we get this game over with already? I'm so excited, I can't sleep for ####. It's not fear it is truly excitement.
