What would our record be *without* Kelly Bryant at QB ?

For the sake of discussion (OK, argument, LOL) ... suppose either Zerrick Cooper or Hunter Johnson had taken the starting QB position back in fall camp.
NOTE: This assumes that ZC or HJ got all the 1st string practice snaps instead of KB2.
What would our record be right now?
Would we still be 8-1 ?
9-0 ?
5-4 ?
What do you say ??
From what we've seen so far this season, does anyone still think the coaches chose the wrong guy ?

The only mistake the coaches made

were keeping a gimpy KB in at Syracuse. The argument is did they make the right call in who they had on the field to replace him when he got knocked out.

Shows up, clemson wins.
IF CLEMSON won, no1 would be questioning the decision to start bryant or cooper.

In my opinion, we do not have an offensive line that is geared to a pocket passer. If a less mobile pocket passer is used, it does not matter if he has Joe Montana like passing skills if the pocket collapses before any receivers have time to get open. Our best OL is simply not able to block the opposing defenders long enough for him to just stand in the pocket and throw darts. Our offense is more geared for the success of a mobile quarterback who can make plays on the run like Kelly Bryant.

But why would our QB

be throwing darts?
That's odd, and I'm pretty sure NCST's coach would have it investigated.

I'm going to have to disagree about our OLine.
Yeah - it's not the greatest, but it would very helpful if the opposing D knew that we had a QB that could pass effectively, preventing every team from stacking the box. Everyone knows that KB2 will not beat them with his arm. So inconsistent with passes that they rush more than our OLine can block. Simple math IMO. Most on here predicted pre-season that teams would stack the box, making KB2 pass the ball. We also knew that our best chance to win is run-run-run. Passing the ball usually results in a wasted play. It is what it is. Apparently our coaches have no confidence in HJ, or we would light up some teams, and become WRU once again. Right now - we are NOT WRU. Not even honorable mention based on our history. Yes - we have great WR's, but they aren't breaking any records.

It's always impossible to project given the offense we are using. From a fan's perspective, which means results, Kelly clearly runs the ball the best. However, Hunter Johnson has been flawless in his fakes and his passes. I think Hunter would have done well in a short yardage pass offense and especially passes off of fakes. This year it appears we have given up the "shock & awe" pass game because of Kelly's inability to be consistent in hitting recievers. Perhaps a blend may have made the difference, however our deep threats are going to be a liability with his arm. People will dare us to make that throw. Thus far we just aren't connecting. We should have beat NC State by another 3-4 Td's if Kelly quits sailing his passes over the recievers heads. Sorry, but i watched the game closely.

First, in answer to your question, somewhere between 9-0 and 0-9. We'll never know.
Secondly, we have the #1 quarterback in the 2018 recruiting class coming in next year. If, as some others have pointed out, we do not have an O line structured to protect a pocket passer, why are we not moving in that direction to prepare for him. Why not have a passer like HJ back there to get the offense trained for what is to come? Unless, of course, we're NOT planning to use TL early.
Thirdly, I think KB has done an admirable job this year. Did I expect the Tigers to be 8-1 at this point? Not in my fondest dreams.
As to the two guys sitting on the bench (ZC and HJ), I've heard the OCs say on several occasions that neither of them are capable (might be too strong a word, but it's too early to think of a better one) of running the read option, and "that's what our offense is built on." Really? How much did we see of the read option Saturday night? Of the 34 rushing attempts against Nancy State, I counted 4 or 5 read options, and KB kept the ball each time. The other 15-16 times KB ran the ball, were QB counters/draws of one sort or another. The final 14 times were handoffs/pitches to the Tailback. In our final three offensive plays at the end of the game, KB made a nice read on 1st down and gained 7 yards. The next two plays looked like KB had only one thought in mind, and that was to hold onto the ball. Yeah, I know, the O-line didn't help much, but it's hard for 7 to block 11. I would have loved to see the ball handed to ETN (if he breaks the line of scrimmage, he's gone!), but that's just me. I would love to see Feaster and ETN get more carries... it might open things up for KB... but the entire running game seems to be built around KB (not criticizing... he's a dynamic runner) with an occasional bone thrown to #9 or #28.
Those are just some observations and opinions. I'll leave the real decisions to the coaches with the big shiny rings! After all, they have us 39-3 over the past 3 seasons, so they're certainly doing something right! I'll go back to being a fan and screaming for the Tigers... with an occasional comment.

As to your first point - I don't disagree, somewhere between 9-0 and 0-9 seems accurate
On your second point - you're kidding right? Please tell me that part was a joke and an attempt at sarcasm, because changing the offensive scheme to fit a QB's skills who is going to be a true freshman next year and no guarantee to even be 2nd string, much less start, would be completely stupid. You go with your best chance to win today and you build the offense and scheme around that guy.
Your third point - I agree, KB getting us to an 8-1 record is admirable.
Next, you got a link to our OC's saying ZC and HJ are not capable of "running the read option?"
