How to watch Clemson games online in Europe?

Aug 30, 2012, 2:41 PM

Hello all. I'm sure this topic has been covered before, but I can't get the search function to work (no matter what term I search for it says there are no results).

I'll be in various spots in Europe between now and November and hoping to figure out the best way to catch some Clemson and other college football games. Obviously a sports bar of some sort would probably be the best bet, but the biggest problem with that is that, especially with the night games, the sports bars aren't open when the games are on (a 7pm ET game starts at 1am over here and goes until 4am).

I have an Ipad and would ideally like to watch on it, but also could get access to computers (at a 24-hour internet cafe or borrow a laptop).

I don't think ESPN3 or the WatchESPN app will work because I don't have an account with any of the cable companies necessary to log into to ESPN3. But open to thoughts on this.

I know about Justin.tv, but don't know if I can rely on the Clemson game being broadcast, and I've heard the picture quality can be quite bad. Does anyone know how safe it is to assume that someone will be broadcasting the big games (like Auburn and FSU) and has anyone watched games this way? on an ipad?.

I saw someone on here mention www.thefirstrow.eu. I plan to try that tonight with the SC-Vandy came and see how that goes. Has anyone used it before? Any idea if it requires Adobe Flash (meaning I couldn't use the ipad?)

Any other options? I'm hoping to try out any options with tonight and tomorrow nights games so that I have it figured out for Saturday.

Thanks for any insight!

Thanks for the link! It looks like I can get audio through that link, but no video (ESPN might take issue with clemson broadcasting the video online). I think WCCP usually has a pretty good online audio feed as well. So I guess I'll at least be able to listen - that's definitely better than nothing.

Here's my thought....

I would hit up any of your friends/family that have an email account or internet access from one of the "special" providers for ESPN3 or WatchESPN. I got my dad's email address and password for a Comcast account and was able to download and log in to WatchESPN. You just have to find someone that trusts you enough to use it only for this use and not "other reasons".

Hope this helps

Thanks! I think my parents might be comcast subscribers, but not sure if Comcast is one of the special ones. I'll have to look into it a bit more.

Where in Europe? Are you willing to pay money?

Aug 30, 2012, 3:07 PM

Over there, you'd look for access to ESPN America

I live in Kiev, Ukraine. You can buy ESPN3 without a cable account. It is a separate site for those living in Europe. Here is the link. http://www.espnplayer.com/espnplayer/console

I buy it every football season for three months. It is well worth it. You can watch archives of all the games, and the quality is great. It costs about $20/month as I remember.
