Pulled up to MfOjr's practice and I'm the only parent sitting in the bleachers watching. The rest are either in their car on phone or not here.

It really is, and bc of that I've been thinking of a way to make a holster for my wife's phone that will hold it close to her ear so she doesn't look like she has an arm growing out the side of her head bc she is on that D a m n cell phone almost every awakening minute. I'm totally the 0posite, and when my phone do ring, if the caller isn't in my contacts I will not answer it. I have set that when a bump it it stops ringing and goes into voicemail, and if the call is important they can leave me a voicemail and I'll call them back. I hate having a cell phone but they are a necessary piece of electronics that we need so we can be contacted if it's necessary or an emergency, but I would bet anybody that mine don't ring more that 10 times a week, and some of those aren't in my contacts and don't get answered ;)

My son is usually on the field coaching the soccer for his kids and in the stands like you watching practice for other sports

Keep being involved in your son’s life just the way you’re doing. My father played professional baseball, and baseball was my first love as far as sports go, but he never saw me play from little league all the way through college. Believe me, your son appreciates you being there even if he doesn’t always say it.

I see it all of the time with the business that I am in. 17 years ago, all of the parents came to practice and most were involved.
Now, it is like pulling teeth to get volunteers to help!

Saturday night. We sat near a table with a married couple that they both stayed in their phones the whole time. No conversation past ordering. It was pathetic.

they pull that on you! lol

They're like space zombies, completely out of it buried in those frigging phones, and startled if you interrupt them. Strangest thing is to watch how they've mastered the ability to work the gadgets while manipulating silverware to eat! Double lol.....

Fifteen young men on the team and only four parents ended up watching practice.

You have to support your kids. That's one of the most important parts of parenting.
