Correct, this is 100% FBC solution. We have an AC unit and it is needed

in the summertime. I’m mostly wondering if this would keep it from having to run all year.
We won’t be in this space for more than 24 more months so anything is temporary at this point.

How hot is the room getting and what do you have in there?....

Not to be unkind, but your plan doesn't make a lot of sense.
If you really just want air circulation, then put a bathroom vent fan in there and put a vent in the door so air can circulate.
If you just have switches, routers, and maybe a PC, don't worry about doing much more.
If you really have servers, then put a dedicated AC in there...like a small mini-split system for a few $1000.

We are in between sizes...a server, a couple PCs, a few NAS, switch rack, phone servers, etc.
Bathroom vent fan (ish) is exactly what I am going for. I just don't think I have room for that in this weird space - it's a triangular shaped closet and not a lot of clear ceiling tiles, not sure I could fit a bathroom fan in there.
And we do have an AC unit...or will as soon as the replacement arrives next week. I had struggles with the last one that died last fall (it would occasionally leak water on the floor) and it put off a fair amount of heat. I'm thinking of this fan rig to basically supplement the AC by venting out the hot air in the shoulder months.
Not sure it's worth it though.

Just remove one panel in the ceiling grid. A border tile would do it.***

As I've been "enjoying" some quality time in a data center for the last few weeks myself. It's been at least 8 years since I was behind a server console for any amount of time. Lets just say this..it takes a while to catch back up.
You didn't say if you are using plenum A/C, or if its ducted, but I'm assuming it's ducted.
Anyway, your idea will work, but you might be better separating the front of the rack from the back with partitions, and blowing the hot air toward the open ceiling in the back. Most, if not all, servers and equipment, if they are rack mounted, suck in cool air in the front, and blow out hot air in the back. If you have "in-air" separated from "out-air", you don't care how hot it is in the back (I mean to an extent), hence the term "hot aisle/cold aisle" when referring to datacenters.
If you can make your own "hot aisle/cold aisle" setup its a lot more efficient than trying to cool ALL the air in server room (or closet).

considered the hot/cool side of the rack. When I am back in the closet (!) I’ll see if I can utilize that to my advantage
