The ACC owns the rights to its members' home games; could FSU just say screw you and play all of its non away games at various neutral sites in FL? Then sell those rights?

They'd lose a portion of the ticket sales and all the economic activity the games bring to Tallafassee

As an independent they'll have 12 games to handle as they please

Maybe 4 home 4 road and 4 neutral sites; reserving the highest profile matchups for road/neutral. For example they could schedule a home and away with us; they come to death valley and then the return game is in Orlando or Jacksonville instead of Tallahassee

The conference dictates which of a team's games are "home". FSU could move their home games somewhere else, similar to Clemson playing home basketball games elsewhere while Littlejohn was being renovated, but it would be of no legal benefit to them. They could choose to play night games in a high school stadium with bad lighting, but the broadcast network would bring in auxiliary lighting for TV and FSU would lose on ticket sales.

The conference determines which conference games are home or away

The schools have much more control over the non-conference schedule. There must be a stipulation in the TV contract that sets a minimum number of home games perhaps FSU could meet that minimum and still have 6 or 7 other games to try to find a creative way to generate revenue.
