I am pretty sure his injury was a misprint, there is no such thing as a torn plantar fascia. Plantar Fascia is like turf toe but involves the connective tissue in the heel. He will be in a lot of pain for a while, I';d be shocked if he saw the field this weekend, which is a shame because he really had a great game against ND and was starting to look the part. Fortunately, he is a junior, so we will get another year out of him.

Antonio Williams is a second year player who may get a medical redshirt since he played as a true freshman last year.

You can redshirt irrespective of your class. The restriction is just 4 or less games for that year of eligibility to be preserved by the redshirt.

You can, in fact, tear and/or rupture your plantar fascia.
