Home Team lunch today - Greenville location for those keeping score

first, they are proud of their food - pricy for sure.
Pulled pork, Brunswick Stew and hash and rice. Buddy got Brisket with two sides and tea. Combined $45 no tip included.
Rating:
1) Pulled pork. Honestly I have had pulled pork from my crock pot that taste about the same. I tasted zero smoke, even though I had some burnt/cripsy pieces.
2) Brunswick Stew - I have a recipe I have done a few times that I got off the internet that would have beat this version 10 out of 10 on a blind taste test. No flavor imo so I dumped a lot of hot sauce in it.
3) Hash and rice. - I am not an aficionado for sure, having only eaten hash a few times and never from the hash part of SC, just what I have found upstate. This was good, but I would not trust my opinion.
Final score 0 out of whatever. I mean it was a nice place, but food not great, kinda ok I guess, was overpriced for sure.

Similar reaction. Nothing to complain about, but nothing worth the effort/$$. So, when a friend wanted to go I got a burger. Surprise: was good, imo.

I need someone to tell me if it's as good as the one in Charleston. And yes...that means driving to Charleston to compare them if you haven't had one down there before. I hate it when people start whining about having to acquiesce to my every whim.

are the main reasons I go there. There pulled pork has never really upset me though. Not enough to compare it to crockpot stuff. Maybe if SC can get this liquor insurance stuff back to even I'll dream about Bobby's BBQ and Beer house...Make BBQ Affordable again.

He would always bring his leftovers from the weekend to the church men’s group in simpsonville on Monday evening. Really nice dude. And in return when he needed firewood for smoking meat we would get together and cut him some.

they left there and just assumed us upstaters have no idea what pulled pork, etc. should taste like. And they probably are right for a lot of people. Sadly.
To be sure, I rarely get pulled pork anywhere because after being a BBQ judge for a few years, I am mostly disappointed in restaurant BBQ. But, I thought, I'd give them a chance.
Buddy said their brisket was ok, but Smoking Pig beat them hands down.

totally wrong for others - everyone has different taste buds and likes different things, so I will not argue with anyone who tells me Bucky's is the best in the upstate or whatever - that is their taste buds talking, not mine.
