Rick did a heck of a job with what he had to work with.

He won games with that Slab 5 crew. I mean that alone was pretty darn good coaching. He won with guys like Rayfield Ragland, Harder, etc.

Then he took us to #2 in the country. We beat Duke several times. Beat UNC in the tourney. Went to the sweet 16 and should had won and gone to the Elite 8 which I feel we would had beaten that UCLA team that year and made it to the Final 4. Of course that is all wishful speculation.

But the guy did great with what he had. And he did that with guys like Wideman, some foreign player that was decent and an undersized point guard who was a heck of a player. Wideman and those guys were all good players but not great players. Barnes was able to get them to overachieve.

I wish he had never left.
