Melvins is awesome and I eat there about once a month. Tonight we are eating at home. Tomato and roast beef sandwich with mayo salt and pepper. Also a small bowl of homemade Chili with slaw and one all beef Weiner.

2024 orange level member flag link military_tech thumb_downthumb_up

Always ate at Melvins when I'd visit my buddy in Charleston

We always ordered the same thing, cheeseburger with mustard, slaw and chili. But one visit our food arrived at the table my order was correct, but my buddys slaw was on the side instead of the burger.

Buddy: I ordered slaw on my burger

Waitress: We dont do that here

Buddy: But he has slaw on his burger

Waitress: Did he not want slaw on his burger?

Buuddy: Yes, but I did too

Waitress: We dont do that here

Buddy: But he has slaw on his burger

Waitress: Did he not want slaw on his burger?

Buuddy: Yes, but I did too

Waitress: We dont do that here

This went on forever before my buddy finally gave up. We still laugh about this to this day.

And, venison cube steak, asparagus and mashed potatoes are on the menu for tonight.

Grilling steaks and ordering baked potatoes and salad from Carolina Restaurant. The best sour cream for a baked potato anywhere, IMO.

Left over, but tasty barbecue ribs from a local mom and pop restaurant. I'm thinking of picking up some delicious cornbread and another side from a different restaurant.

BloodbeOrange® Kind of expensive. I think we paid $40 for two of us with drinks. The fries were very good, and they don't skimp on the toppings. I got the fries, topped with fried chicken, garlic, parmesan cheese and bacon. That was $18 but it was a good amount of fries and toppings and it did fill me up. My wife got the fries topped with bacon, grilled chicken and bbq sauce and hers was $17. Overall, I think it was good if you love fries. My buddy got the steak and shrimp on his fries, and he said it was good.

I will say that I can put together a slamming pot of chicken with rice stew that everybody that has eaten it, they have bragged about it. I believe that the flavor of my chicken stew with rice comes from the timing that each ingredient is added to my chicken stew. I only use thigh & leg quarters that I'll boil just long enough to take the bone and gristle out. My other ingredient are fresh mushrooms, a large or two medium size yellow onions, one and a half garlic cloves chopped up fine, salt, pepper, and lastly the rice. I cook it the same way every time, and even though I say so myself, it has always turned out to be a delicious tasting chicken stew....:)

or is it better eaten with a spoon. It sounds delicious, and I may have to steal your recipe. A favorite ingredient around here is either pork sausage, or smoked sausage. the best chicken and rice, I've ever eaten was prepared in an old black cast iron wash pot, one like the old folks used to wash their clothes in.

I had Ghengis Grill. Never heard of it but a buddy suggested it and it did not disappoint. You get to pile up as much meat as you want and all different kinds and then add any vegetables including small potatoes and add some fruits for flavoring all over top of rice or noodles. So here is what I had.

Shrimp
Chicken
Steak
Chicken curry (Spicey)
Potatoes
Sweet corn
Black beans
Ginger sauce
Kong pau sauce
All mixed in a fried rice bowl
