How close are we to the glory days?

Of looking at our schedule and not seeing a team on it that we shouldn't beat?

Not sure we will ever get to the day again where

there's nobody we "shouldn't" beat. Just too many good teams and Clemson likes to schedule tough OOC games.
Now, it's a different thing to say "can't" reasonably beat, and we are already there!

I think that we have been in the glory days the past few years. And our most glorious years are just right around the corner.

Two things are standing in the way . . .

1. Beating the coots. We were 10-3-1 against the dirt-peckers during the Pell/Ford glory days. This can be corrected, and I expect it to be.
2. No National Championship. That's a tall order, and while we may never get there again, we should be in the conversation going forward.
In terms of talent, beating top-notch competition and finishing highly ranked, we are there now.

on how long it takes to consistently beat SOUTH CAROLINA.
5 in a row is far from glory days if you ask me.

The Glory Days always look a bit better in the rear view mirror. I loved being at the games in the 70s and 80s, but the distance between winning and losing has always been close.
We went undefeated and won the national title in January of 1982. In the following 59 months, we went 3-2-1 against South Carolina. Looking back we can say we should have won them all, but we did not win them all.
We beat Georgia in 81 but lost in Athens on the first game played in the 82 season. In four years in the late 80s we beat Penn State, Oklahoma, West Virginia and Georgia TWICE, but we also lost to NCSU twice, tied and lost to SC and lost to Duke and GT.
The past was glorious but aside from one year, we have never just lined up and beaten everyone.
Seems to me the last couple of years have been pretty sweet and we should enjoy them.

Very very true. These are the glory days - we are there

now. The coots being at an all-time high themselves and our lack of success against them, I'm afraid, just takes some of the luster off of it, compared to then.

About Three Years

Clemson has a chance to be a national championship-type team in Deshuan Watson's Junior year in 2016. He'll come in with a year of starting experience, and Clemson's new generation of elite OL such as Mitch Hyatt will be ready to dominate defenses.

Here's the thing

Some of our best teams in our history aren't known as our best teams, because we had one or the other ( UF or UM) outstanding nemesis.
We are about to go not a period where we are both really good, but somebody's got to lose.

Both you and the Coots have us in situations the last few years where we just can't get over the top. You guys are in a place you've been before where National Championships are expected, not dreamed of. The Coots are by far the best they've ever been and have had our number the last few years. We're up there but the last few years you two have just been better than us. Hopefully that changes this year. Looking forward to an exciting game in Tally but I honestly hope we blow you out.
