They act like other teams never lose after high expectations...
FSU, Notre Dame, Boise St, Oklahoma, Georgia, Va Tech all do this.
I used to like Herbstreit, guess that's over with.
I say we prove him wrong and win the national championship this year

I just think there are teams that have let down losses, and don't get the big wins Clemson gets.

I am with you on flying to the top. But we all have felt the pain that he is talking about too many times!! I cant fault him for expressing his honest belief. But this is exactly what Dabo is setting out to change and to change now. Its time to focus on each game and bring the intensity to each and every game. Its 14 wins to the top not ten or 13 but fourteen!!!! It starts with the first

Herbstreit's actually a Clemson fan...

He's said before that he hopes his kids go to Clemson and he openly pulls for us to win every game we play. He may not pick us, but he pulls for us. In regards to what he said, he's right. For so many years we've had talent and expectations that have equated to 7, 8, and 9 win seasons and finishing 1 game short of an ACC Championship. Last year changed all that and hopefully we'll win some more here. But I can't be mad at Herbi for being right. I remember in '05 when he said Clemson quits if you get physical with them, and he was right about those teams, too. Kinda funny he picks us to lose a lot. He says that once he really believes in Clemson it backfires and we sputter. He said if he picks us to lose then we'll win haha.

He picked us to win on Gameday before Auburn game Saturday. Genius Corso bet against us because we had lost 6 in a row at the Georgia Dome.

Maybe he's saying all this to see if we respond better. Instead of hyping us up like they always do with FSU, put us down and make fun of us. I think he's purposely trying to get our team to play better and win the big ones that we have always let him down on in the end. You can't really deny what he says tho, he has been on our bandwagon quite a bit, he did have nice things to say the time Gameday came in 06' for the GT game. This team is setup to prove everyone in the national media wrong.

Why it is GREAT to be a diehard Clemson Fan...
Sep 5, 2012, 3:43 PM
|

Let me count the ways: Best tailgating in the country Running down the hill Bowman Field on Homecoming Players who are relentless: Ellington, Dalton Freeman, Keith Adams, Gaines, Woody, DaQuan, etc. Winning ACC Championships, National Championship Dominating our in-state rival Just being in Clemson, SC Being part of the best College Family in the US of A
See it is not an question of does Kirk like us or not but his perspective is wrong and corrosive if we believe it. Sure we stumble from time to time but no more than other programs and yes we have high expectations.
No sir I am not buying this and don't you. We have a storied football past, great traditions and we are returning to the top.
See you Saturday!

Wahhhhhh wahhhh, quit crying over what he said, mainly because what he said was true. Herbstreit likes Clemson a lot, and I think he said what he said because he has an interest in the tigers. He will be our biggest cheerleader when we actually live up to expectations.

Anyone who thinks Herbstreit is bashing Clemson people

is a rutard. Year after year Herbstreit puts faith into Clemson, only to be let down in the end. Nothing he said was wrong. It's tough watching your team crap on its own face every year at some point. That's not bashing any fans.

How can anyone really argue with him?

There have been years we've started out with a poor record only to be "one of the hottest teams in the country" at the end. Well a lot of good that does us.
There have been years where we have started out 8-0, let us all see what we are capable of, and then fall flat on our face at the end.
How many times were we "1 play away" against BC and FSU?
Beat Miami, lose to Duke...
Over the last 10-15 years we play very well when there is little expected of us, and very poorly when things are. Sure there are other teams that do the same thing, but not in the spectactular way that we do it. UGA pretty consistenly falls below expectations but they are more of a slow smolder all year vs an epic bonfire like us. Unlike FSU who usually has the hype in preseason and loses it by game 3, we usually build it up for a good 6 or 8 games before we shoot ourselves in the foot.
Its easy to be a fan of Kentucky, Duke, Alabama, South Carolina, Ole Miss. You pretty much know what you are gong to get in the season. You might get an upset if you are Kentucky that makes your whole season. We have found the craziest ways of getting our final outcome. Unlike others, we can see the corner, even turn it, but then realize that there are other corners and roadblocks in front of us.
It aint like being a Cubs fan. Sure you know that you aren't going to win it, but you also know tha tyou are pretty much going to suck so you can enjoy the good.
