PJ will get drafted. That doesn’t mean he’s ever going to play in the NBA. Clemson hasn’t had a legit NBA player in… Hell I don’t know how long. But Brownell has never produced one that’s not 100% certain.

I hope Hall gets drafted and does well, but the NBA draft is tough. Only 2 rounds and now a lot of foreign players take up several spots. Underclassmen take up spots. There just aren’t that many spots in the draft these days.

PJ doesn’t get drafted, probably gets a couple of free agent tryouts ends up in the G-League or Europe. Good player, but just doesn’t have a true position at the next level IMO.

When you count the number of college basketball players that want to play in the NBA, maybe 1 of every 30 college basketball players applying for the draft will be drafted, if that many....

Tree Rollins, Dale Davis, Elden Campbell, Hunter Tyson, PJ Hall will get drafted. Don't say it is not possible because it is possible. Clemson plays in the best basketball league in the country and gets plenty of exposure.

All them guts now that they have proven to coaches everywhere that they can play with some of the elite players around the country, they are now chasing after a paycheck. That is what I've been biotching about for the longest, and if not put in check it will completely destroy 3 Bigs of college sports as in Football, Baseball, and Basketball. I say this for one simple reason and that is, how long can a university afford to bring these kids in as true freshmen, pay all of the expenses that it cost to keep them with everything that gave to them for 2 or 3 years that it takes for them to play their best ball, and then have that investment to check out looking for more at another university...
The schools that they transfer to that will make their programs better, they will have the bare minimum invested in a player that can improve their program from day one, and that is exactly what's happening with a leave anytime transfer portal door wide open without any harm to player, but the university that has tons of $$$ invested in them are the losers without any recourse, just a lot of $$$$ down the toilet!!!

Brad has accomplished this only three times in the 14 years he's been here. He has been the walking embodiment of underachieving. Certainly happy that he was able to coach a Final Four team to the Elite 8 this season. That was a great two weeks.

Only 6 schools in major college football have better overall records than Dabo's 30-10 from 2021-2023- 'Bammer, Georgia, Oregon, Notre Dame, Ohio State, and Michigan. So, his teams continue to excel, portal or no portal.

I think he was happy at Clemson until someone got in his ear and convinced him he could get paid somewhere else, which is probably true. It's most likely tampering, but it's not like that rule is actually enforced.

Losing Amick really stung after last year’s baseball season. But I think Bakich took more from the portal than we lost. If Brownell can do the same then we will be fine.

This is a shock. It seems to reason that he would have started next year. I am ashamed of some
of the responses I have seen here. He must want more $$$, Brad can't develop NBA talent, he just wants to get a chance to play in the NBA, he is selfish. He is 6'8, the team is needs a true center. He is not a "5". Maybe the emergence of Ian Shefflin has the most to do with this. Maybe he does not want to be the backup for another year. Maybe he has access to news we do not. Perhaps PJ Hall is coming back? Perhaps the coaching staff has made it aware they are recruiting a true Center or have already informed him he will be coming off the bench next year(it is normal in most sports for the players to meet with the Head Coach one on one at the end of a season). It is sad that "FANS" will immediately go after a kid when they decide to transfer, and this is a 20 year old kid folks, or you want to bash the head coach, who just led the team to the schools second Elite 8 ever, and a final top 15 ranking. Maybe the kid has family that is in bad health, maybe his girlfriend just broke up with him-he's 20 years old! I say we tell him thank you for coming to Clemson, wish him well, and pray Brad finds some bigs to come in and play out of the transfer portal.
PS- I see Football and Basketball completely different when it comes to the transfer portal. Football has been very successful, has a culture of winning in place, and can pull in 4 and 5 start talent. It is develop and reload usually. Basketball had a great run in the tourney this year, but has been average. Basketball has to use the portal. To the poster that had to make the comment about the transfer portal and Dabo, most Clemson fans are sick of hearing about it. FSU BOUGHT a team that had a 1 year run, we are going to see that this year for what that was, a 1 year run. They lost their QB and still got snubbed. The real USC brought in transfers everywhere including a Heisman Trophy QB, that didn't work did it! You might can get a quick boost from using the portal, but that is not sustainable and does not build a program. Getting into bidding wars to bring in a kid that is all about himself and not team, is not the way to build a football team. Basketball has 5 guys on the court total. Football is 22 and specialists. Rewarding the starters that are already on campus instead of buying a player looks logical.
Rewarding form within gives the other players something to strive towards instead of paying a kid that
has done nothing for your team to get him to come play for you. I think that can be a cancer on a team
IMO. Plus, Dabo has more than earned the right to do things his way.

I know I'm not supposed to say anything bad about Brownell because the guys did well in the tourney, but it's factual that players and asst coaches leave the program at a high rate. There are a few (5ish?) on the record about how harsh Brad is and/or they don't feel Brad develops players.

CBB has recruited zero 5* and 7 4* players in his 14 years that ever played a game. Only 4 stayed with the program. Two were on this year's squad.
2020 P.J. Hall 4-star, no. 62 overall
2014 Donte Grantham 4-star, no. 75 overall
2011 Bernard Sullivan 4-star, no. 83 overall (transferred to Charlotte after 1 year)
2017 Amir Simms 4-star, no. 93 overall
2019 Chase Hunter 4-star, no. 105 overall
2016 A.J Oliver 4-star not ranked (transferred to Old Dominion after redshirt sophomore year)
2020 O.M Prosper 4-star, not ranked (transferred to Marquette after freshman year)
This year and next year's classes do have two young men who were 4* prospects somewhere, but in 247sports.com composite only one is:
2023 Asa Thomas 3* No. 240
2024 Dallas Thomas 4* No. 84
2024 Ace Buckner 3* No. 156
2024 Del Jones 3* No, 153
So next year's team will have one consensus 4* players (unless C Hunter uses his COVID year to play for Clemson one more time). Hall gone, C Hunter gone, JGIII gone, Clark gone. Now also Beadle and Godfrey.

Not happening! This is how it's gonna be at Clemson. We are not going to shell out tons of NIL dollars. No sense in us fans going crazy about it. We had our run in Football, which due to NIL has now ended, Basketball just enjoyed in 1 every 5th season great year, and baseball it giving it all it has right now. The NIL is making it all about the cash. Smaller schools that push education will no longer be major players in college athletics. It's what the players wanted and they got it.

The other 2 transfers were pretty understandable, but this one hurts. RJ was really impactful last year, especially in the postseason. Even more crucially, he looks like he has a lot of potential to get even better, and he's still only a rising junior. He looked poised to be a potential starter, or a big-time backup at the very least, for the next two seasons in Clemson as part of the emerging core of young players on the roster. I wonder what the reason was for the transfer, maybe we'll find out in time. I wonder if it could've been that he wanted a guaranteed starting spot and didn't want to risk spending another year on the bench behind Schieffelin and a potential transfer center. Or maybe it was money. Who knows, we may never find out. But regardless, that one hurts. Didn't see that coming.
