had a tremendous thunderstorm that night while positioned in the middle of an open valley. If you ever had to spend a night under a poncho held up by a couple of sticks while nature's greatest fireworks show constantly lit up the world around you, it burns itself into your mind.

Last year or two and had to just pick a spot on the bank and sit it out..and it is hair raising..but..when in those tight spots I do realize that the LIGHTNING is not TRYING to KILL me.I would think in war a thunderstorm is down the list of what can harm you...

Strangely , it is the only rain I remember the entire 7 months I was there- monsoon started after I was wounded- had a typhoon hit when I was in the hospital on the coast - the ward I was on flooded out & I had to be moved to higher ground with rain pounding on the blankets I was covered with

kia in Nam piloting his Medivac chopper with only 2 weeks left. He had just celebrated his 22nd b day. I was in Army at same time not there because he was...Terrible grief and survivors guilt/ finally getting over it...GO TIGERS We both grads of Daniel, I graduate Clemson 1966
