Without reading the article it looks like the O-line started earlier than expected in the cut blocks.

I thought Walt was going to have a seizure today. Is there history to explain his irrational love for Johnson?

They were already down to waterboys at defensive end.
Their DL was, to put it mildly, bad already. He was the one semi-legit starter. They got zero pass rush to begin with, with their front 4...they made up for it a lot by bringing 5 and 6 a lot. This certainly doesn't help them very much. Another interesting little factoid...their strongside linebacker is 6'1", 191 pounds. They must have a different definition of "strong side" than most people. Bottom line is, except for a couple of spots, they basically have an FCS-level defense; they make up for it by taking insane risks, knowing their offense can score a bunch of points to bail them out.
God help them if their offense stalls some.
I don't think this game is close, or if it is, it'll be a crashing-waves type of game where both teams take turns surging. They're just too high-risk/high-reward. Either we bury them, or Deshaun Watson turns out to not be healthy and they end up burying us.
I don't see a lot of middle ground available, with these guys.

to happen to beat us by a lot, whereas we only need to play up to our capabilities and not make mistakes to potentially blow them out. (3 or more scores being a blowout)
I think Deptula is wrong that GT will move the ball consistently. I think they'll move it some, but not consistently. I'd bet they have as many 3 and outs as drives over 8 plays.

Our listed strong side backer is Korrin Wiggins - all 5'11", 195 lbs of him. It's just the way they list that position, even though it's more of a nickel back.

Your "tweener" is gonna have to make plays all over the field...particularly the type where he chases dudes in orange into the end zone. Is he on kick-block too ? That way he will have at least 9 chances to make more plays "all over the field". LOL Tweener

Yeah he doent have ideal LB size, I can agree with you on that. I'd rather have 250 lb LBs who run 4.5 but this ain't the NFL. For college, he plays at a high level. For example, Vic Beasley is 235 lbs. That's not ideal for a DL by any means but the kid is a beast and makes plays. That's all you need at this level. If you're athletic enough, you can weigh lighter and still be very effective.

Hey not here to gloat (I like Clemson after all), but more to point out how our "tweener, lol" was just named ACC LB of the week after this game. I dont know if you realize, but he's the number 40 that was all over the field and making life generally miserable for the Clemson offense. My point is that you cant judge a player by their height and weight on a roster sheet, as you guys did. I said the guy was a super athletic playmaker and now I hope you are convinced too. Vic Beasley is a beast but he is only 235 lbs, for your Clemson equivalent. Now go and beat the snot out of the Coots, please.

Dude, we were going up 10-0

You won because
A) our best player went out and it deflated the team as a whole (it deflated the fan base as a whole) B) Well, there is no B. There are just a lot of results from A. Our best player was not out there, but even if he does not start, I think we still win. The fact that he went out the way he did took everyone down about two levels (even the coaching staff) of emotion in an emotional game. From an X's and O's stand point, we are a lot worse on offense without him, but I still think we win without the huge emotional roller coaster.
So, if you want to poke your chest out and act like you beat the big kid on the block, just realize you did it with one, probably two hands tied behind his back.
Congrats...

Just like it was the turnovers against Carolina last year? And the humidity in Tallahassee this year? And...
Same results, same excuses.

Okay, I think a few of you are missing my point. My aim was just to point out how you guys get so wrapped up in size/weight/stars that you cant see an excellent college football player right before your eyes. PJ Davis is an excellent player and I was hoping you would acknowledge your prejudgement was incorrect. Regardless, I understand your pain (been there plenty of times with GT) and this is not salt in the wounds attempt at all, just a side discussion/debate.

This is actually a really big deal. GT lost 6 or 7 guys from the DL 2-deep between offseason departures and injuries, so there were literally only 3 scholarship DT's on the roster, and one of them was playing DE due to how thin that position was.
GT will probably blitz heavily to force turnovers, which has worked out a lot lately, but also puts the D at risk for big plays. Just hope Watson can avoid big hits and capitalize on some of the guys that will undoubtedly be open.
