Graveyard of Coaches - here's a interesting stat....

since WW2 UofSC has had 12 head coaches - not a single one has been head coach for a single game after giving out at cootville.
In fact only 3 guys escaped - ever - each coached a single season - 2 in wartime - the other was the first coach.
Hope ole !MOOB is saving some money.

I think Clemson is about to add an Alabama coach to that list. Only time will tell.

They don't call it a coaching graveyard for nothing.

They all finish their college career the same way, like Woody Hayes and Barry Switzer, with a loss to Clemson.

Not to be a contrarian nor do I want to take up for scar, but you should put conditions on your statement. I do think you are correct if you say no scar coach has gone on to be a head coach at a division 1 / Power 5 school. Sparky Woods was head coach at VMI for a while with a losing record, of course.
Now, you all can give me a thumbs down to ruin my 100% rating but facts is facts. As good Clemson folks, we should appreciate being accurate.
Good day.

So, we will just have to say no former coach at Usuc ever coached at a Power 5 school after Usuc. Yes, Usuc really is a coaches graveyard!

Good for Sparky!
Johnie McMillan in '45 went to coach Citadel for 2 years - figured it included the Bulldogs in the 40's it would have included all.

I don't know if it counts because he was an interim coach but Shawn Elliott is currently coaching Georgia State

In other words, every brand new head coach at South Carolina since 1945 could have looked into that empty trophy case and said, "It's never gonna get any better than this, anywhere else."
And when looking at his own reflection: "Son, from here on it's all downhill."
No matter what he has done before, it ain't happening that way again.
Now for some, that would give increased motivation to 'bloom where you're planted'. But very few things bloom in Columbia.
Not even in that graveyard.
